Nayanthara has recently been in the headlines for her Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale, and her legal feud with Dhanush over it. Regardless of the legal back-and-forth, Nayanthara was able to release her documentary on her 40th birthday, on November 18, 2024. Her documentary shows her journey in the industry and features many celebrities she has worked with in the past.
Among the several celebrities featured in the Nextflix documentary, Nagarjuna spoke about the time he shot for the Telugu film, Boss with Nayanthara in 2006. He also shared about Nayanthara's tempestuous relationship. Nagarjuna recalled the first time he saw Nayanthara and shared that she was someone with an aura of royalty around her. He shared:

"When Nayan walked into the set, of course, she was beautiful, but there was an aura of royalty walking in. The warmth she spoke with, her genuine smile, I had this instant connection with her. This is a person I would like to be friends with."
Nagarjuna recalled they were shooting for a song in Switzerland when he realised she was in a relationship and was going through what he called a 'turbulent time'. He shared that they all would dread whenever Nayanthara's phone would ring because the second that happened, her mood would be spoiled. He also added that he would ask Nayanthara why she was putting herself through all that, even after being such an accomplished woman. Nagarjuna did not reveal who Nayanthara was dating, but it is speculated that she was in a relationship with a popular Tamil star. In Nagarjuna's words:
"I remember we were shooting in Switzerland; I think she was going through a very turbulent time in a relationship. We would all dread her phone ringing. If the phone rang, this girl’s mood would just come down. She would just turn off. I remember asking her, why are you doing this to yourself? You’re an accomplished woman."
Nayanthara also shared that her first relationship was based on trust rather than love. She added that one believes that their partner also loves them, so you give it your all. She shared that she was always subjected to speculations that people had assumed were the truth. She further added how a lot of these stories broke her, and to date, no one has asked any of the men what had occurred.
"You just believe the other person is also in love with you. More than love, it’s trust. And you give it your all. But people assume a lot of things. It broke me when people assumed stories about it. Till today, no one has asked any of the boys what happened."
Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary focuses on her career, love life, and marriage to Vignesh Shivan, the director of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. However, Dhanush, who produced the film, refused permission to use the footage. Nayanthara, who fell in love with her husband on the sets of that film, took to her Instagram handle earlier on November 16, 2024, and posted a three-page note calling out Dhanush, who is reportedly suing the actress for a 3-second behind-the-scenes clip in the trailer.
