Nakuul Mehta is a popular television actor, who is best known for his roles in shows like Ishqbaaz, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai and more. Currently, he is enjoying the success of his latest web series, Space Gen Chandrayaan, alongside Shriya Saran, Gopal Datt and more. Well, recently, the much-loved actor opened up parenthood and revealed how fatherhood is ignored in the acting industry.
Recently, Nakuul Mehta sat down for a candid conversation with Mid-Day, during which he opened up about fatherhood. For the unversed, Nakuul and his wife, Jankee welcomed their second child- daughter, Rumi in 2025. During the recent chat, the Do You Wanna Partner actor shared the changes he has noticed in himself after embracing parenthood. He was quoted as saying:
"I think becoming a parent has changed a lot of things for me. Because when you go back, and in your child's eye, all he wants is for you to be present. You live for how you can become the best version so that this person can grow up to be a better human being. And then all of the outside noise sort of dwindles down. It's not to say that I don't have days of insecurity. I do. I'm a human being, so I have it. But you build a circle of trust and friendship around you, where you can be honest. And then days of insecurity kind of pass."

Nakuul Mehta further explained that fathers are not considered as parents in this industry. He mentioned that like mothers get a lot of credit and are hailed as working mothers, the efforts of a father go unnoticed at times, as there is nothing like working fathers. In his words:
"I feel fathers are not considered parents on a set, unlike mothers. A mother is always a mother, who's a working mother. It's never a working father. But I take that role very seriously. There are days you're successful, there are days you fail, and that's life—but you try."

Nakuul Mehta and his now-wife, Jankee Parekh first met in college and eventually fell in love. The couple kept their relationship private for a long time, before making it official in 2012, when the two tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony. Years later, in 2021, the couple embraced parenthood for the first time with the birth of their son, Sufi. In 2025, the duo welcomed a daughter, Rumi. Over the years, the Ishqbaaz actor has often spoken about parenthood and the changes in him after being a father.

During the same interview with Mid-Day, the Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 actor opened up about dealing with failures as an actor. He shared that over the years, he has given more than 500 auditions and only a few of them worked out. Nakuul Mehta also stated that eventually one should realise that neither failure nor success should be taken personally. Nakuul Mehta shared:

"I've actually had more failures than successes. I would have auditioned at least 500 times in my life from the beginning of my career and not done a hundredth of that work. That's also the nature of the business you've chosen to be in. I think at some point you realize that failure is not to be taken personally, nor is success."
