Amitabh Bachchan's granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda is the co-founder of Aara Health, a healthcare company focussed on women. Some time ago, she launched Project Naveli, an organization dedicated to building gender equality in India. The star kid recently took part in an online chat on periods and women's health care and talked about how she has always seen her mother and grandmother prioritize their family's health over their own.
In a chat with Miss Malini called Talking Period Poverty With Navya Nanda And Gayatri Chhabria, Navya Naveli Nanda talked in detail about her project and said, "I think before even understanding the access to healthcare, it is important to understand how healthcare is viewed by women in general. Women inherently prioritize the health and well being of their family over themselves."
Further, taking her family's example, the star kid said, "I have seen that happen at my own home with my grandmother and my mother. They are the sole caregivers. Because of that, they are always taking care of the family, the husband and the children. I don't think their own health, mental or physical is a priority. That stems from the gender roles we force as a society and that's where the patriarchy and misogyny comes in where men have always been the head of the family and breadwinners, and the woman the caretaker. That, I think, has caused a big disparity in terms of how women even look at health and prioritize their own well being."

Earlier, in a conversation with Vogue India, Navya had talked about what had driven her to launch these startups. Talking about how she has always been around working women, be it her dadi, Jaya Bachchan, her mami, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan or her mother, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Navya had said, "I've grown up around working women in my family—my grandmother, my mother, my bua—it's all I've known. To bring that change, you have to start with education and financial independence."

Talking further about her project, the star kid had said, "I want to use the resources, people, privilege and platforms that I have to spread awareness and bring change. Studying abroad, I found the women there far more emancipated. I want women in India to feel the same way, to be given similar opportunities. I want them to be masters of their own destiny and take charge of their own lives. I've grown up around working women in my family—it's all I've known. To bring that change, you have to start with education and financial independence. That's where Project Naveli comes in."
Navya had then mentioned that she thinks that this can be achieved if people come together to make it a reality. In her words, “However, my primary goal with this initiative is to offer opportunities and resources to women that will allow for economic and social empowerment, providing them with the right tools and access to lead healthier lives, enter the workforce, be independent, and so much more.”
