Ranveer Singh is one of the most popular actors in Bollywood. The actor made his debut with the film, Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010. But do you know the person behind training the then-debutant, Ranveer? It was Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who trained Ranveer for his role in the film, Band Baaja Baaraat opposite Anushka Sharma. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Nawazuddin revealed that he trained Ranveer, but is not interested in taking credit for it.
Nawazzudin Siddiqui is recognized in the film industry for his versatile acting skills. The best-performing movies of Nawazzudin include Gangs of Wasseypur, Manjhi – The Mountain Man, Te3n, Manto, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and more. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the actor recalls training another popular actor in Bollywood, Ranveer Singh. It was from the time when Ranveer made his debut in Bollywood. Recalling training Ranveer in 2010, Nawazzudin shared:
“Kuch waqt ke liye kiya tha. Aesa kabhi nahi socha tha. Mein toh ek tarah se workshop lene wala banda hogaya tha ki koi kisiko actor banna hai, launch hona hai toh mein hu. Workshop karte the hum log sab actors ke saath.”
Further in the interview, Nawazzuddin was asked whether he was willing to take any credit for training the then-debutant, Ranveer. Following the question, the actor said that acting can never be taught, it is the talent within the artist that makes them shine. Appreciating Ranveer’s impeccable acting skills, Nawazzudin shared:
“Acting kabhi sikhayi nahi ja sakti. Koi pudiya nahi hai. Aap ko khud ko find out karna padta hai. Uske andar khud ki kabiliyat thi. Han aap ko raasta dikhaya ja sakta hai ki iss taraf se bhi jaya jaa sakta hai. Lekin jana toh aap ko hi padega na.”
Nawazzudin, the versatile actor known for his immense stardom in the film industry, has a struggling past. Born on 19 May 1974 in a small town called Budhana in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, Nawazzudin, made his debut with Amir Khan starrer, Sarfarosh. It was in 2012, that the actor got his breakthrough with Anurag Kashyap’s film, Gangs of Wasseypur. Some of the popular movies that featured Nawazzudin are The Lunchbox, Badlapur, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick, Te3n, Manjhi- The Mountain Man, Haddi, and Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 1 and Part 2. Before making his presence in acting, Nawazzudin worked as a watchman.
Being born in a village area, Nawazzudin struggled hard to complete his studies. After completing his studies, the Te3n actor moved to Delhi and joined the theatre. It was during that time, the actor didn’t earn much from the theatre, so he was forced to work as a watchman. The actor also worked as a cook in Delhi, to pay rent for his room. However, Nawazuddin realized that he wanted to be an actor and moved to Mumbai. Starting his acting career playing minor roles, today Nawazzudin is one of the Bollywood powerhouses of acting. Coming to his personal front, Nawazzudin got married to Aaliya Siddiqui in 2009, and the couple has welcomed two children, a daughter, Shora and a son, Yaani.
