Nayanthara has made a name for herself in the South Indian film industry. She is known as the South Superstar. However, apart from her successful acting career, the actress hits the headlines every now and then for her relationship status with the South director, Vignesh Shivan. For the unversed, Nayanthara had met Vignesh while doing their first film together in 2015.
On October 21, 2021, Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara had completed six years of togetherness and to mark the special occasion, Vignesh had shared some unseen pictures with his ladylove on his Instagram handle. Along with it, Vignesh had penned a sweet note that could be read as:

Recently, we stumbled upon an unseen picture of Nayanthara and Vignesh, wherein the couple looked gorgeous together as they were twinning in black. In the picture, the duo posed with full smiles and stood hand-in-hand together. While Nayanthara wore a navy blue and white printed turtle neck dress, Vignesh kept his look casual in a navy blue tee and jeans. The love-filled photo speaks volume about their love for each other. There were some rumours that had stated Nayanthara and Vignesh's secret marriage and baby plans. However, a close source to the actress had denied it all. The source had mentioned in a conversation with Pinkvilla that Nayanthara has a lineup of projects, so she is quite busy fulfilling her commitments. The source had further said:
"Nayanthara has a huge lineup of films. She is not getting married anytime soon. We can all laugh about these reports because they keep coming every 3 months. Marriage is not on cards for them yet."

In a Tamil talk show, hosted by Divya Dharshini, Nayanthara had confirmed getting engaged to Vignesh Shivan. When asked about the ring she had flaunted in one of her photos on social media, the actress had replied:
"It was my engagement ring. We are private people so we didn’t wish to have a grand ceremony. When we decide to get married, we will definitely inform everyone. Our engagement happened in the presence of close family members. We haven't decided on our wedding yet."
