Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, the couple who met in 2014 on the sets of their film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, fell in love at first sight. The couple started dating soon after working on the film and dated for many years before finally getting hitched in 2022. Their lavish wedding, a surprise to many, was the kind most of us can only dream of having. Nayanthara and Vignesh were quick to share the gorgeous pictures from their wedding. However, it is only now that they have opened up about the chaos that went into planning for the grand occasion. Nayanthara's documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. And now we got our hands on a few unseen snaps from their wedding festivities.
Nayanthara never skips an opportunity to slay with her sartorial picks, so how could she afford a miss on her wedding festivities? Nayanthara shared very few snaps from her wedding festivities, but now we stumbled upon her regal OOTD from her mehendi ceremony. For the day, Nayanthara donned a custom-made signature 'Ek Taar' lehenga, from Monica Shah.
The lehenga has intricate golden work all over it, and the choli even has a colourful pattern. Nayanthara complimented her look with a golden-embellished dupatta, and for accessories, she opted for a statement necklace and matching earrings. Vignesh, on the other hand, donned a matching red-hued kurta set from the same brand. His outfit was a masterpiece of vibrant hues and intricate artistry, and it blended modernity with heritage, mirroring the couple’s individuality and love for their roots.
Nayanthara's eponymous documentary revealed that her grand wedding at Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa in Mahabalipuram was planned in just ten days. The time crunch was a result of their original plan not working out due to unforeseen logistical issues, a situation many can relate to. Initially, Nayanthara planned to marry Vignesh in Tirupati Tirumala temple as she wanted a typical Hindu wedding, having changed her religion.
For the unversed, Nayanthara was born Diana Kurien. However, the Lady Superstar changed her name when she opted for a career in films. Eventually, Nayanthara changed her religion from Christianity to Hinduism in 2011. Talking about her desire to have a Hindu wedding, Nayanthara said:

"Because I am a born Christian, my mom always wanted to see me in that Christian attire –the wedding gown kind of a thing. But, since I have become a Hindu, and we have to do a Hindu wedding, I just thought it should be like a beautiful mix of both a Hindu and a Christian wedding. So we kept it a Hindu wedding with an English touch."
