Neena Gupta Gives Marriage Advice To Love Child, Masaba Gupta: 'Sab Galat Cheezein Boli Maine'

When we talk about strong women in India, Neena Gupta’s name strikes our minds. She has always lived on her own terms, made her own brave choices, and stood by them. When infidelity was considered as a taboo, Neena had decided to raise her and the cricketer, Vivian Richard’s love child, Masaba Gupta, despite people raising eyebrows. Since the actress had made a comeback to the silver screens in her 50s, she gained a new generation of audience and received immense love from them.

Just like Neena’s profession, her personal life too had bounced back on track, when she had found the love of her life, Vivek Mehra in 2008 and had tied the knot at the age of 50. For the unversed, Vivek Mehra is a chartered account in Delhi. Now, Neena Gupta has revealed what marriage advice she gives to her daughter and one of India's most successful fashion designers, Masaba Gupta.

As Neena Gupta’s latest web series, Panchayat 2 released, she sat for an interview with The Indian Express. In the candid chat, Neena was asked about motherhood and what advice she gives to her daughter, Masaba on marriage. Answering this, Neena laughed and said that she gives wrong and ‘gheesi peeti’ advice to her daughter like any other mom. She said:

“Wahi sab galat cheezein boli maine. Wahi ghise peeti baatein jo har maa bolti hai.”

Earlier, in an interview with the same media portal, Masaba was quizzed about having a child out of wedlock. To which, she had said that even after being a modern woman, she still doesn't have the guts to have a love child and deal with whispers and taunts around her. In her words:

"Accepting is one thing but what happens behind the scenes is something else. You would pass comments like that she slept with someone and had a baby. I read stories of so many single moms who have had kids out of wedlock. They do have to deal with whispers and people talking behind their backs. Nothing has changed with time. Being a modern woman, do I have the guts to have a baby out of wedlock? Never. I don't want to take that extra pressure, and put a child in that space."

In an old interview with Pinkvilla, Neena Gupta had revealed that if her now-husband, Vivek Mehra would not have been nice to Masaba, she would never have married him. The doting mother had also mentioned that in any relationship, no matter for whom she feels love or lust, it would always be important for her to notice if that person respects her daughter, Masaba, and vice-versa. Neena could be quoted as saying:

"If my husband didn't like Masaba or if he was the kind who would never get along with her, I'd never get married to him. No matter how much I love or lust a man, I wouldn't have ever decided to be in a relationship with anyone if they had a problem with my daughter. It's very important that she likes who I'm with and vice versa."
