Bollywood actress, Neena Gupta is undeniably an epitome of a powerful woman. It was in the 80s when she had met West Indian cricketer, Vivian Richards in Mumbai and had fallen in love with him. The two were madly-in-love with each other but he was already a married man and a wedding with him wasn't possible. Later on, she had discovered that she is pregnant and against the wishes of her family, she had given birth to her child and raised her as a single mother. The actress had named her little princess, Masaba Gupta, and her courageous move was applauded by millions of people across the globe. However, after all these years, Neena Gupta sees all those things with a slightly different perspective. Although, she doesn't hold any regrets but now understands the fact that a kid needs both his/her parents in order to grow happily. In her latest interview, Neena Gupta talked about the same and revealed a lot of things about the time, when she was raising her daughter single-handedly. Scroll down to take a look!
In an interview with the IANS, Bollywood actress, Neena Gupta talked about the toughest and most important time of her life, when she was raising her daughter, Masaba Gupta as a single parent. The actress recalled that time and talked about the obstacles she had faced during that time of her life. She said, "At that time when I got married, I had worked like a dog, especially in television, which was tough for me. Looking after a baby alone and work was very tough for me. So, I said, now I'm married, I will live a comfortable life, I'll go to the parlour, I'll go for a massage, which I never did for many many years, I will cook -- I like cooking -- I will look after (daughter) Masaba, I will give her more time."
Going further in her interview, Neena Gupta shared some more details about the time, when she had no projects in her hand and was exploring the life of a housewife. Recalling the same, she added, "So this was my thing that 'I want to do that housewife thing'. I was already doing the housewife thing but without the husband. Now I would do the housewife with the husband. So that was my mindset, and I was very happy to start with. Slowly, I realised that it was not going to work because people, including my husband and my daughter, started taking me for granted." After a lot of discussion with herself in her mind, one day, Neena Gupta had decided to resume her career all over again. Talking about the same, she said, "Something was lacking, some respect was lacking. One day something happened, which I don't want to talk about, and I said 'this is what I have become', and I said now I am going to work." However, it wasn't easy for her to make a comeback after a break from the industry. She explained, "But it never worked out, and I was very frustrated, and I wrote a post (where she asked for work). Initially, when I decided not to work, it was very nice, to begin with, but then I realised kaam ke bina kisi ki koi izzat nahi hai duniya mein."

In the end, Neena Gupta reflected on the importance of both the parents in a kid's life. She said, "It was very hard. It was harder than I imagined. I feel it was wrong because a child needs both the parents to be around, and they need quality time. They need a lot of time, and I feel that if I didn't have to earn money, Masaba would have been even better."
