The mother-daughter duo, Neena Gupta and Masaba Gupta are in the headlines once again after the second season of their critically acclaimed show, Masaba Masaba, was premiered on Netflix on July 29, 2022. The netizens were eagerly waiting for the series' second installment, which was like a breath of fresh air when it premiered back in 2020. Apart from Neena and Masaba, the show also featured outstanding actors like Satyadeep Mishra, Neil Bhoopalam, Rytasha Rathore, Smaran Sahu, Suchitra Pillai, Pooja Bedi, and the list goes on.
Although the plot and writing of the show are exceptional, there's no denying the fact that it is Neena Gupta's bond with her daughter, Masaba Gupta, on the screen that is simply heartwarming. From witnessing them talking about the complexities of life and doubting themselves to their cutesy arguments and disagreements, Neena and Masaba indeed gave tons of mother-daughter goals to everyone with their respective performances in the show, Masaba Masaba.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Neena Gupta talked about her daughter, Masaba Gupta and shared her experience of working with her in the series, Masaba Masaba, over two seasons. Reflecting on the way how Masaba surprised her with her acting skills, Neena admitted that she never encouraged her daughter to act. Neena also added that after she watched Masaba's performance in the first season of Masaba Masaba, she got shocked as her daughter was really good at acting. Heaping praises on her and adding how she apologised to her daughter, Masaba, for criticising her during her acting journey, she said:
"When I saw the first season, I was surprised. I am Masaba’s biggest critic. She gets upset because I always criticise her, but that's the role of a mother. But, I was so impressed with her work that I said sorry to her for not letting her act. She has a lot of potential as an actor."
Going further in the interview, Neena Gupta shared how the dynamics have changed over the years as she opened up about her conversation about mental health with her daughter, Masaba Gupta. The actress explained that no one was aware of mental health during her time, but today the time has changed, and her daughter, Masaba can talk to her freely about this topic. Neena Gupta also added that in their show, they tried to show how comfortable and easy it is to open up about your mental health with your parents. Talking about the same, she said:
"We are not crude to talk about it (mental health) in a particular way. We addressed it sensitively. Every parent is a kid's support system. The important point that is that you can talk to your parents, and friends about your issues. Back in the day, I could not talk to my mother like Masaba talks to me today. The whole dynamics has changed. In nuclear families, we don't know whom to talk to. We keep things (bottled up) and they come out in horrible ways. Watching how a mum and daughter talk may help people."

For the unversed, it was on June 4, 2022, when Neena Gupta had turned a year older, and on her special day, her darling daughter, Masaba Gupta had uniquely wished her. Taking to her IG handle, the doting daughter shared a series of throwback pictures of her mommy to mark her special day. The rare pictures were from Neena's younger days. Needless to say, it made her massive fanbase nostalgic all over again. Along with it, Masaba penned a birthday note for her mommy, and it could be read as:
"I mean, find me a more powerful icon! THE GREATEST! Happy Birthday Mom!"
