Neeraj Chopra is one of world's most loved track and field athletes. He hails from a small village in Haryana and established his name worldwide with hard work and determination. As one of the best javelin throwers, he has earned several accolades that have made the country proud. But, despite receiving massive fame, he leads a simple life. He also surprised everyone when he shared his wedding pictures and announced his marriage to Himani Mor on January 19, 2025. Apart from three pictures from his big day, Neeraj didn't disclose much about his wedding, but now his uncle has shared some inside details from his big day.
Since Neeraj Chopra's wedding news became public, everyone was curious about how he met his now wife and tennis star, Himani Mor. Recently, his uncle, Surendra Chopra, has revealed to Aaj Tak that Neeraj met Himani in the USA. The latter studies and works there, and the couple soon went to their respective families seeking permission for marriage. Once their families came on board, they went ahead and planned their intimate wedding.
Neeraj's uncle added that the couple had a love-plus arranged marriage. He revealed that the families had organised a three-day wedding affair where their close friends and family members were present. The wedding celebrations were organised at a resort in Himachal Pradesh. He stated:
"It was a destination wedding in Himachal Pradesh. We spent three days in the mountains. We had a lot of fun. Neeraj is a normal person. It was good-quality family time."
Neeraj Chopra has always been vocal about his values, and his uncle, Surendra Chopra, mentioned that the track and field athlete's family didn't take any dowry for the marriage. At the same time, during ceremonies, they accepted only a token amount of INR 1 as shagun. Explaining his family's stance, he said:
"We have always been against the practice of dowry. Our family doesn't believe in the concept of dowry. We just took one rupee as 'shagun.'"
Neeraj Chopra managed to keep the news about his wedding a secret, and the couple took stern measures during the wedding to ensure it. They organised their wedding at a resort in Kumarhatti, Himachal Pradesh that is surrounded by less population. The nearby villagers were not surprised by the grand wedding decor because the place is known for being the venue of some of the most high-end destination weddings. The couple invited around 40-50 guests, and they were restricted from carrying mobile phones or other gadgets to the venue. Moreover, the Pandit who officiated the wedding knew nothing about the bride and groom's identity beforehand.

Before the wedding, Himani Mor, who hails from Larsauli village in Haryana, came and stayed at Neeraj Chopra's village for 14 hours for pre-marriage rituals. Disclosing the couple's plans further, Neeraj's uncle mentioned that the Javelin Thrower has competitions lined up for the next two years, which was an essential reason for his marriage at the beginning of 2025. The couple have now gone abroad and will host a reception in Mumbai.
