Ranbir Kapoor is the spitting image of his father, the late Rishi Kapoor from his younger days. However, Ranbir had always wished to be friendlier with him. However, the love and respect that Ranbir has for Rishi Kapoor were untamable. Every now and then, the handsome actor misses his late father, but keeping a brave face, he stands like a pillar of strength for his family.
It was on April 30, 2020, when Rishi Kapoor had breathed his last and had left for the heavenly abode. The 68-year-old-actor was fighting cancer and had freed himself from all the pains, leaving a huge vacuum in the lives of friends, fans and family.

In an interview with News 18, Neetu Kapoor revealed how Ranbir Kapoor misses his father a lot. Revealing that he still has Rishi Kapoor's picture as his screensaver, the doting mother shared:
"Ranbir misses him a lot. His mobile screensaver still has Rishi’s photo. There are days when I see tears in his eyes but he stays strong."
In the same interview, Neetu revealed that the initial days after Rishi Kapoor's death was quite difficult for the whole family. Talking about the same, Neetu retorted:
"The initial six to seven months were really bad for all of us. We all cried a lot." However, she added that life has to go on and one cannot keep 'crying'. We have all moved on but we still remember him every day."

To mark Rishi Kapoor's second death anniversary, Neetu Kapoor and her kids, Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni will hold a puja at her home, distribute food items, followed by a langar at gurudwara, just like the family did last year.

In a throwback interview, Neetu Kapoor had revealed how Ranbir Kapoor had reacted when he got to know about Rishi Kapoor’s health condition in 2018. Neetu Kapoor had shared that when they got to know about Rishi Kapoor’s cancer, Ranbir Kapoor was travelling. When he came back, she had made him sit and had explained the situation, which had left him teary-eyed. For an hour or so, Ranbir was in a denial state, but later, he had composed himself and had got down to deal with the situation. The very next day, he had gone to Delhi to pick up his father, and the two then had flown to New York for Rishi Kapoor's treatment.
