Rishi Kapoor was not just a name, he was an institution of talents. With nearly 50 years of an active film career, Rishi ji was known for his boyish charm and romantic hero image. When the movie, Bobby released, it had broken all the records making the debutants Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia overnight stars. With Bobby, Rishi ji had become every girl’s dream man and it is said that his female fans were so much in love with him that the actor used to get love letters written with blood. But the charmer was madly-in-love with the gorgeous Neetu Kapoor. Rishi ji and Neetu ji’s love story is no less than any fairytale.
In the 70s, Rishi Kapoor had madly fallen in love with his co-star, Neetu Singh, and had khullam khulla expressed his love for her. From winning over his lady’s love to asking his mother-in-law to stay with them after marriage, the lovely couple had fought all the odds to be with each other. On April 30, 2020, Rishi ji had breathed his last after fighting with cancer for two years and since then, Neetu ji had been sharing throwback pictures of her late husband. On May 18, 2020, Neetu Kapoor took to her Instagram handle and shared a throwback family picture featuring Rishi Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Ranbir Kapoor, and Samara Sahni. Her heart-melting caption broke our heart as she wrote, “How I wish this picture could remain complete as is” followed by a heart emoticon.
Rishi Kapoor’s fans still remember the veteran actor with tears in their eyes. On May 2, 2020, Neetu Kapoor had shared an emotional farewell post for her late husband. She had taken to her Instagram handle and shared a picture of Rishi ji with a drink in his hand, posing for the camera with his enchanting smile. Neetu Kapoor had posted a family statement on her Instagram handle, revealing how Rishi Kapoor had remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents, with a folding hand emoji as the caption. The statement could be read as "Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukaemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last. He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.”

The statement had concluded with “He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears. In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force. He would not have it any other way."
