Bollywood actress, Neha Dhupia and ace tennis player, Sania Mirza have been great friends over the years, and they have been each other's pillar of strength during their pregnancy journeys. Neha and Sania have always been there for each other through thick and thin, and that's what friends are supposed to do.
Recently, Sania Mirza had announced her retirement plan, and her fans and followers are pouring in their love and respect for her. Her best friend, Neha Dhupia, talked about her mixed feeling about knowing the news of her retirement and shared it with the media.

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Neha Dhupia revealed that she had a 'lump' in her throat after knowing Sania Mirza's decisions. The actress said:
“You never lose your star players. I feel the biggest contribution Sania has made to Indian tennis and somebody who won Grand Slams, is also especially for women’s tennis and women in international sports. We cannot restrict her accolades to just tennis, she has inspired one too many.”
While further mentioning how emotional Neha got when she found out about Sania's retirement decisions, she shared:
“When you see your friend and an international star making announcements like these, you do feel this way because of how much they have achieved.”

Further going into the conversation, the actress lauded her friend with heaps of praises and called her 'unstoppable', Neha Dhupia stated how happy she is to have Sania in their life. She said:
“She has inspired us in so many ways, and I am so proud to call her my friend. Even at a personal level, I have seen so much I get inspired by. We don’t get to meet that often, but we had our first babies at the same time, my Mehr and her son, Izhaan. We were talking each other through it. Every step of the way, she has been a great athlete and a wonderful mom. I am happy we have her in our life.”
While concluding her statement, Neha even mentioned how Sania had taken this decision thinking about her son's health and this ongoing pandemic. She shared that this is best suited for her. Neha expressed:
“The decision which Sania has taken is best suited for what she is going through right now, and she will never make any faulty choices, I know her.”
On January 19, 2022, Neha Dhupia had taken to her IG stories and shared a Pinkvilla post regarding Sania Mirza's retirement news. Atop it, the actress had written while sharing the snippet:
"@MIRZASANIA YOU MY LOVE ARE PURE GOLD."
