Recently, a similar buzz surfaced when an 18-year-old influencer, Riva Arora, who rose to fame through her acting prospects, transitioned into being a social media influencer at a young age and recently announced that she has received an honorary doctorate.
Riva Arora is one of the most well-off child actors and influencers. She has also worked as a model and creates content about her lifestyle, fashion, etc. However, she took the internet by surprise when she took to her Instagram handle and announced that she had received an honorary doctorate in digital influencing and women empowerment from Adi Shankar Vedic University. She also shared some photos of receiving the honour in a red academic dress and cap along with the announcement. She penned the post:

Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) in Digital Influence & Women’s Empowerment. 'In Recognition of Exceptional Leadership in Digital Media, Inspiring Millions, and Pioneering Women’s Empowerment at a Remarkably Young Age.' I'm incredibly grateful to @keshvanandag and @sachingupta1208, who supported me along the way. Here’s to new adventures, continued learning, and embracing all the possibilities that lie ahead!"
Soon after the pictures were shared by the influencer, Riva Arora, netizens started digging into her degree and the university that gave her the same. A user even shared a video where he visited the university website and showed how none of their courses had any rating or any mentioned enrollments. He also pointed out several spelling errors and the wrong Indian flag.
The user also shared how the address provided on the website didn't show any construction on Google Maps. He also pointed out how the majority of the newspaper and article clippings looked edited and fake. The video concluded by mentioning that the only perfectly functional and curated section of the website was the registration section. The revelation left the netizens stunned.
Soon, the video was shared on the discussion platform, Reddit and netizens were quick to share their opinion on the same. A user penned, "And iss dimag se paidal ldki ko ye batao ki bhen 18 saal ki bchi kon phd offer krta???" Another commented, "Ye adult banane ke liye kya chaiye. Kam se Kam doctor. Haan toh hai na Haan . Shaam tak certificate milega. Koi tension nai hai." A user wrote, "So, she applied for it? Or did the “university” get in touch with her for a collab or something?" A user responded to the comment and wrote in a long post:
