Netizens Slam Janhvi, Vishal For 'Disrespecting' Ishaan Khatter During Interview, 'Manners Missing'

Janhvi Kapoor, Vishal Jethwa, and Ishaan Khatter recently attended the 78th Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of their latest film, Homebound. While the film was lauded with a nine-minute standing ovation, the trio’s appearance at the festival has taken a controversial turn after a viral video surfaced online, sparking criticism over their behaviour. Social is abuzz with discussions about the alleged awkwardness between the co-stars, especially due to Janhvi and Vishal’s behaviour during a press interaction.

Janhvi and Vishal seemingly ignore Ishaan during a Cannes interview

A short video clip from one of the trio’s interviews at Cannes is making rounds on social media, where Ishaan Khatter is seen actively engaging with the interviewer, while Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa, seated right beside him, appear distracted and involved in their own conversation. Janhvi is seen whispering into Vishal’s ear, to which he responds, seemingly ignoring the ongoing interview they were a part of. 

Netizens strongly react to Janhvi and Vishal’s behaviour

This video did not sit well with users online, and they soon started slamming Ishaan’s Homebound co-actors for not paying heed to his words while they all sat in front of the camera. Having a conversation between themselves while the other one is talking seemed disrespectful, and netizens were quick to react to the same.

Users condemned Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa for not managing to finish the interview without talking to each other. Netizens did not mince words, with several calling the behaviour ‘rude,’ ‘unprofessional,’ and even ‘childish.’ One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote:

“Honestly, when someone is giving an interview, the other person should have the courtesy to not keep whispering, it’s a bit disrespectful to the person speaking.”

Another user slammed Janhvi and Vishal, stating, “Want to school them like a teacher seriously. 5 minute baad mein kar lena baatein bhai. Zindagi bhar ka nahi hai interview.” One sympathised with Ishaan and wrote, “This is hella disrespectful. Ishaan, run!” A third netizen took a dig at Janhvi Kapoor and wrote, “This is their khandani bimari. Same is done by her sister Sonam as well”, mentioning Sonam Kapoor’s behaviour with her co-actors in some of her interviews that didn’t sit well with fans.

However, some netizens highlighted that the clip did not show the entire video, stating that the actors actively listened to Ishaan for the rest of the interview. One user noted:

“They r not interfering him, they listened to him all the time, just this once maybe they had to discuss something immediate and important? Drawing over the top theories lol.”

The video quickly led to wider speculation about the dynamics between the actors, particularly Janhvi and Ishaan. Adding fuel to the fire, another video clip from the Homebound red carpet at Cannes 2025 shows Ishaan offering his hand to help Janhvi, only to be seemingly ignored. This moment further intensified speculation about a possible fallout between the two. A Reddit user commented:

“At the Cannes main red carpet, Ishaan sweetly offered his hand to help her, but she completely ignored him. He looked like he was trying, but she seemed super cold.”

Janhvi and Ishaan were once rumoured to be dating after starring together in the 2018 film, Dhadak. While Janhvi is currently rumoured to be dating Shikhar Pahariya, Ishaan has reportedly moved on as well, with Malaysian model Chandni Bainz.
