The much-anticipated Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, starring Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit, has finally hit theatres. Over the past few weeks, the stars have been busy promoting the film and amping up the excitement for fans. For the same reason, stars Kartik, Triptii, and Vidya along with director, Anees Bazmee, made an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show. However, one question Sunil Grover's character, 'Dafli', asked Tripti during the episode left netizens enraged.
During a segment of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Sunil Grover's character, 'Dafli' was seen interacting with Triptii Dimri. 'Dafli' first asked the actress if she was the one who had been in the movie 'Aminal' (Animal), and Triptii confirmed that she was. Then 'Dafli' questioned her about her bold scenes with Ranbir in the movie, asking whether they had been real or fake. 'Dafli' said:

"Yeh jo aapne Ranbir Kapoor ke saath kiya hai, I hope woh sirf shooting thi; aise asli mein toh kuch nahi tha na?"
Triptii burst out laughing and confirmed that the scene had indeed been fake. Then 'Dafli' started jumping joyfully and exclaimed that they could be friends. She even gave the actress a high five.

While Triptii herself took the joke quite sportingly, laughing and even giving 'Dafli' a high-five, netizens are outraged on her behalf. The clip featuring the joke is being discussed on Reddit, and users have been bashing the show for their inappropriate sense of humour. At the same time, Redditors have been dropping praises for Triptii, who handled the moment with utmost grace.
One user commented, "I wonder if they'll ever ask Ranbir about doing these scenes ?! Didn't he also appear on this show sometime ago. This show has always been low-key creepy! The actors and their PR teams should take a stand and call them out." Another commenter wrote, "Tripti is sweet and calm. She took it so sportingly. Would this question be asked if she was Ananya or Jahnvi?"

Others users, though, have been coming to Sunil Grover and the show's defense, stating that it was a running gag on the show that 'Dafli' was Ranbir's first wife. One user commented, "You ppl need to understand that Dafli is Ranbir's first wife. She has every right to ask this question. She didn't even spare Alia," while another wrote, "Arre, it's a running joke. Guthi got married to Ranbir on the show and she's possessive and that's the running joke."
In an interview with News18, director Anees Bazmee revealed that Triptii Dimri hadn't always been considered for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Instead, she came to their minds suddenly and they decided to go with the flow. He said:
"We thought, why not? She did a fantastic job in Animal. But I don't think she was an overnight sensation. The success and growth she's seeing stemmed from years of hard work. She's been around for the past seven-eight years and she has done some really good work, be it in Bulbbul or Qala."
