New Parents, Rajkummar Rao And Patralekhaa Once Broke Up Before Marriage, Know How They Reconciled

Actors, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa are currently in seventh heaven with the arrival of their firstborn. The beloved Bollywood duo became parents on November 15, 2025 and shared the joyous news with the world on social media. Fans and fellow celebrities have shared their heartiest wishes and congratulatory messages as Rajkummar and Patralekhaa embrace parenthood. What makes the event even more special is that their baby girl arrived on their fourth wedding anniversary. Amid the double celebrations of the couple, here's a look back at the time when they briefly broke up.

Why did Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa once break up?

New parents, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa have been together for over a decade now. The couple's family has grown with the addition of their little princess. But did you know that Rajkummar and Patralekhaa's happily ever after was once almost on the verge of ending? She opened up about the same at a 2024 Next on Netflix event at Mehboob Studios in Bandra, Mumbai. During the interview, Patralekhaa told host, Zakir Khan that she once broke up with Rajkummar Rao during their courtship period.

Patralekhaa and Rajkummar's breakup didn't last long, and one of her friends was indirectly the reason for their reconciliation. During the couple's brief split, Patralekhaa was so disheartened that she considered leaving Mumbai and maybe heading back to her hometown, Shillong. At that time, a friend of the Wild Wild Punjab actress suggested she take some time off, chill in Goa, and then decide on things with a clearer mind. Patralekhaa thankfully took the friend's advice, and once she was back from Goa, she got back with Rajkummar Rao. Recalling the incident, Patralekhaa told Zakir Khan:

"Mera Raj ke saath breakup hua tha. I was very sad and thought of leaving Mumbai. One of my friends insisted that I go on a trip to Goa and everything would be fine after that. I went to Goa and cleared my mind. However, once I came back to Bombay, I eventually got back with Raj."

Patralekhaa and Rajkummar Rao are now married with a child

Patralekhaa and Rajkummar Rao have just become parents of a baby girl, who was born on November 15, 2025. To reach this phase of life, Rajkummar and Patralekhaa's relationship crossed a brief breakup and stood the test of time. The couple first met for work purposes in 2010. However, it was a year later, in 2011, that they began seeing each other. Then, in 2014, they also worked together in their first-ever joint project, CityLights. Their real-life chemistry shone through in their on-screen, warm, emotional performance. Since then, they have silently supported each other from behind the scenes and been each other's biggest cheerleaders.

After over a decade of dating, Rajkummar and Patralekhaa tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Chandigarh on November 15, 2021. Now, they have started their new lives as parents to their baby girl, calling the littlun 'the greatest blessing'. Celebrities such as Farah Khan, Varun Dhawan, Sonam Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, and Bhumi Pednekar sent their warm wishes to the new parents. Farah also shared unseen photos from Patralekhaa's baby shower, where she and her husband twinned in yellow outfits and looked adorable alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Zaheer Iqbal, and more.
