Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner's brutal murder has been grabbing attention lately. The duo's son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested on the accusation of killing his parents with a knife. Nick has been a drug addict, and reports claimed that he recently started re-using the drugs, for which he had a fight with his parents at a Christmas party, the same day he reportedly killed them. Now, amid this tense atmosphere, a reporter shared how 'jarring' it felt when he went to have dinner with Rob Reiner and his family.

A reporter shared how 'jarring' it felt to have dinner with the Reiner family

Recently, a news article was published in The Hollywood Reporter, and the author, Steven Zeitchik revealed how 'jarring' and 'heartwarming' it was to meet the family. He mentioned that it somehow didn't feel fine. The reporter detailed what he conversed about, and it was mostly about Nick's rehab experiences and about his movie, Being Charlie.

He felt that Nick was sceptical about bringing the movie to the world, while Rob was extremely proud. He also shared how Michele and Romy talked about their pride in Nick doing so much better and co-writing the script of the movie, Being Charlie. And after everything, the reporter felt something was not fine. In his terms:

"But it didn’t feel fine. It felt like things were better but far from resolved; it felt like the festival had arrived and a lot of what hadn’t been resolved had been hurriedly shoved in the closet, like the last pile of living-room mess before company arrives."

Nick Reiner was sceptical about the movie, Being Charlie, while Rob Reiner was proud

Nick has struggled with drug addiction for a long time, and with his being free from the same, he co-wrote Being Charlie, and the film is closely linked to his life story. Well, while working on the same, Nick and Rob got the chance to fix their relationship as father and son, and they often talked about the same. Well, as Steven Zeitchik shared, Nick said he was not sure about bringing his life story out in the world with the movie, and his dad, Rob, was proud of his son, saying that expressing is what the creative minds do. Sharing more about the dinner, the author said:

"Nothing about that night suggested a specifically bad outcome; I’d be lying if I said it did. And yet I’d be equally dishonest if I said something about that night didn’t make me deeply uncomfortable. Anyone with even a modest EQ could see it. I could see the helplessness. Could see the futility of forestalling the harmful acts of an addict."

Nick had a fight with his parents before he allegedly killed them: What happened afterwards?

At Conan O'Brien's Christmas party, Nick reportedly freaked everyone out and asked everyone if they were famous. Sources revealed to TMZ that he seemed to be back on his drug usage, for which his parents reportedly were asking him to opt for treatment, which he refused, leading to a fight. Rob reportedly told everyone that he was scared of Nick's mental health issues.
