Bigg Boss 14 fame, Nikki Tamboli, lost her brother, Jatin Tamboli, to COVID-19 on May 4, 2021. The actress had informed her fans about the tragic incident by posting an emotional message on her IG handle. Shortly after that, Nikki had jetted off to Cape Town for the shooting of Khataron Ke Khiladi and had faced the wrath of netizens for 'not mourning enough' for her brother's loss.

On May 4, 2021, Nikki Tamboli had shared a picture of her late brother, Jatin Tamboli, and had penned a note atop it. Her note could be read as "Death is nothing brother, it's life that is hard. But you fought it till the end… It's very very difficult to live without you. All the memories come back but you don't."
Nikki Tamboli dedicated a post to her brother, mentioning how she cries herself to sleep every night. She wrote, "I miss my brother so much and I am sobbing myself to sleep almost every night. Few people whom I know tell me that it was his time to go and I should be glad that he's not in emotional pain anymore and not sick anymore and that I have to let him go but my mind doesn't want to accept that." However, she deleted the post later. On May 10, 2021, Nikki Tamboli took to her IG stories and shared a quote that read, "A million words would not bring you back, I know because I tried, neither would a million tears, I know because I cried."
On May 5, 2021, Nikki Tamboli had penned an emotional post for her parents, especially her father, Anil Tamboli. The actress had prayed to the almighty to give her father strength to cope with the trauma and grief he is experiencing after losing his mother and son, Jatin Tamboli. In her note, Nikki had stated that she'd try her best to make her parents proud and smile. She had written, "Dear God, please give them strength. Hope I make you both more and more proud day by day & I'll try to keep this smile on your face throughout. I have no idea how my dad is dealing with all this as he had major two loss.. 14 days back his mother passed away and now his son. I pray & give all my strength to my Dad & mom."

For the uninitiated, on May 3, 2021, Nikki Tamboli had shared the heartbreaking news of her brother, Jatin Tamboli's demise by posting a few pictures of him on her IG handle with a heart-wrenching note. The doting sister's note could be read as "We didn't know that this morning god was going to call your name… In life we loved you dearly In death we do the same It broke our heart to lose you You didn't go alone For part of us we went with you The day god called you home You left us beautiful memories Your love is still our guide And though we cannot see you You are always by our side."
Going further in her emotional note, Nikki Tamboli had stated that nothing is going to be the same ever from now onwards. She had added, "Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same But as god calls us one by one The chain will link again. You gave no one a last farewell Not ever said good bye You were gone before we knew it, And only god knows why, A million times we will miss you, A million times we will cry, If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died, We will meet again someday. I thank God he made you our brother while you were here on earth. You are always loved immensely and never forgotten. May your soul Rest in peace!! I miss you dada."
