Nimrat Kaur is one of the most talented actresses in the Hindi film industry. The gorgeous actress won hearts with her acting skills over the years. Recently, there's been a tense situation going on in our country, following the horrific attack in Pahalgam by the Pakistani te***rists. Following this, India replied with Operation Sindoor. Pakistan has been continuing with throwing missiles and drones, which the Indian Army has been defeating like the Bravehearts they are. 

Nimrat Kaur calls herself a 'martyr's daughter'

The Indian Army yet again proved that they are the real heroes, and the entire nation is praying for them. Amid this, Nimrat Kaur called herself a 'martyr's daughter. So, did you know that her dad was killed by the te***rists when she was only 12 years old?

Nimrat Kaur's father was kidnapped by the te***rists in Kashmir and was killed later

In an old interview with the ETimes, Nimrat Kaur talked about her father, who left for her heavenly abode at the age of 44. The actress said that her father was a young major. She further mentioned that her father was an engineer and was posted in Verinag. Nimrat revealed that as Kashmir wasn't a living spot, when her father shifted there, while she, along with the family, stayed back in Patiala. In Nimrat Kaur's words:

"He was a young army major, an engineer posted on the border roads of the army in a place called Verinag (if you travel to Srinagar from Jammu, there is a tunnel called Jawahar Tunnel that comes on the way. And the first valley after that is Verinag). Kashmir was not a family station, so we continued living in Patiala when he went to Kashmir."

Going further in the interview, Nimrat revealed that they were visiting Kashmir back in January 1994, and it was during that time that Hizb-ul-Mujahideen kidnapped her father while he was in his office. Nimrat stated that her father was kidnapped for a week after which he was terminated. The terrorists demanded something unacceptable from Nimrat's father, which was the release of some more te***rists, which the then Major didn't want to do, and as a result, he was killed at the age of 44. The actress revealed that after they got the news of her father's kidnapping, they flew to Delhi with his body. Only after reaching there, she could see her father's body. Nimrat Kaur could be quoted as saying: 

"We were on our winter vacation in January 1994 and visiting our father in Kashmir, when the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen kidnapped him from his place of work and after seven days, terminated him. They had made some ridiculous demands of some terrorists to be released that he obviously did not agree to. He was just 44 when he died. We got the news and flew back with his body to Delhi, and I saw his body for the first time only in Delhi."

In the same interview, Nimrat Kaur revealed that her life changed overnight as she had to adjust to civilian life. For the unversed, Nimrat's father received Shaurya Chakra for his valour. In the same interview, the actress said that the Army is like family and they stand like a rock to everyone. Nimrat stated that the Army is always there to help those who ask for the same. Sharing that it was her father's goodwill, Nimrat mentioned:

"But the army stands by you like a rock. They are your family, and even today, they will come at the drop of a hat if you need something, and they will do anything for you. I also think it’s to do with my father’s goodwill and his relationship with people."

Nimrat Kaur dedicated a tattoo to her father

Nimrat Kaur stayed away from Kashmir over the years until The Lunchbox premiered at Cannes. Later, the actress returned to Verinag and spent 10 days alone for closure. The actress also dedicated a tattoo to her father. The tattoo reads, Zainab, which means 'father's precious jewel' or 'daughter that brings glory to the father's name'.
