Nita Ambani Shares Son, Anant's Struggle With Obesity And Finding Confidence, 'I Saw Him Holding...'

He is the youngest son of India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani and has fought weight issues since childhood. Recently, his mother, Nita Ambani, shared how her little boy turned into a confident man. 

Nita Ambani talks about Anant Ambani's struggle with weight and confidence

Nita Ambani recently appeared for a heartfelt interview with Bloomberg Television. During the chat, she shared how her son had been fighting obesity from a very young age. The businesswoman stated the reason for his weight gain was the medication he took for his asthma. She was quoted saying:

"My son Anant has been fighting obesity from a very young age because of his asthma." 

Anant Ambani's journey to becoming a confident groom

In the same conversation, Nita Ambani revealed that her son, Anant, told her that it was on the inside that matters and not what he looks like on the outside. She added that when she saw her son be a confident groom, it was heartwarming. She recalled how Anant held his life partner, Radhika Merchant's hand during their wedding and how touching the feeling was for her as a mother. She stated:

"When he went up on a stage as a confident groom, he told me, 'Mom, it’s not what I am physically, it’s what my heart is.' And I saw him holding his life partner’s hand. I think that was the most touching feeling as a mother."

Anant Ambani once lost 108 kgs

Anant Ambani created waves back in 2016 as he reduced his weight by 108 kgs in just 18 months. Anant, who managed to go 100 kgs from 208 kgs, inspired millions of people with his massive weight loss journey. However, he gained the weight back soon after. 

Anant Ambani talked about his weight gain

In a 2017 interview, Anant Ambani's mother, Nita Ambani, opened up about his weight gain problem. They revealed that Anant had severe asthma, for which he was given a high dosage of steroids. However, his treatment caused him to gain weight and made him obese. 

"Anant was highly asthmatic, so we had to put him on a lot of steroids. He suffers from obesity. Hence, the treatment for asthma resulted in a lot of weight gain."

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant were the highlight of 2024. The couple got married in a global wedding, spanning multiple continents over several months. Their wedding festivities began in Jamnagar in March, followed by a pre-wedding cruise across Europe. The big wedding took place in Mumbai in July, which became the biggest celebrity get-together with celebrities from across the globe in attendance.
