“In this marriage, I have faced extreme amounts of abuse of all sorts, and even now with parental alienation, my two children are being taken away from me. If I tell you only the two lines my 11-year-old daughters told me, ‘Papa, we are disgusted to call you our father,’ this is what one child told me. Why is the child saying this after doing everything?”

Moving forward in the conversation, Nitish Bhardwaj reacted to his ex-wife, Smita Gate’s claiming that he was asking money from her un-lawfully. In retrospect, he mentioned asking only that much money from which he was cheated of. He remarked that he was fighting a battle for the sake of his children, and added being unsure if he could ever do justice to any other woman in his life in the future. In his words:
“It’s a lie that I am asking for money. I’m asking for my money that I was cheated of. I feel I’m cheated. So today, it is my children’s battle I’m fighting. So I don’t know whether I’ll be able to do justice to any other woman. The institution of marriage is special to me. I believe in it. I have seen many, many, successful marriages including my parents’ marriage.”
Previously, Nitish Bhardwaj’s ex-wife, Smita Gate made a press statement and shared her side of the story against the claims made by her ex-husband. The IAS officer remarked that the claims made by the actor against her of abducting her own daughters were nothing but malicious false statements made to malign her image. Moreover, she even dismissed allegations of snapping connections between her ex-husband and their daughters, since they regularly communicated over email and phone calls.
