Om Puri's Ex-Wife, Seema Says 'Another Woman' Nandita Came Between Her Marriage, 'I Was Pregnant..'

Om Puri was considered one of the most respected stars in Bollywood. His acting skills, versatile roles, dialogue delivery and impressive screen presence were an institution for young actors to learn from. His films like Aakrosh, Ardh Satya, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Sadgati and Bajrangi Bhaijaan are loved by fans till date. But, beyond his work, the limelight was always taken by his controversial personal life. His first wife, Seema Kapoor, once again shared shocking details about his infidelity and betrayal. Recently, she revealed details about the 'other woman' Nandita, who came between their marriage.

Seema Kapoor reveals Om Puri's extramarital affair with Nandita took an emotional toll on her

Om Puri's wife, Seema Kapoor, is a prominent writer and director who has avoided the spotlight. She is the sister of veteran actor, Annu Kapoor and recently launched her autobiography, Yun Guzri Hai Ab Talak. She revealed several shocking details about her marriage with Om Puri in the book. For those unaware, Seema married Om in 1991, and they parted ways within a year and a half of their marriage. She recently sat down for an interview with IANS and mentioned that she didn't want to divorce the actor, but his affair left her with no choice. In her words:

"Divorce is never easy, especially when it's unexpected. I didn't want the divorce. We had a deep, long-lasting relationship, years of friendship and love before marriage. Sadly, within a year and a half of our marriage, another woman entered his life."

Seema Kapoor mentioned that she was pregnant when Om Puri was working on his film, City Of Joy, and he met journalist, Nandita. He soon had an extramarital affair, and his contemporaries knew about it. Seema highlighted that she experienced immense emotional strain during the phase, which made her take the difficult decision to part ways. Recalling the time, she said:

"I don't believe in fighting over love. When I was pregnant at the time, the emotional strain at home became overwhelming. The presence of Nandita, the woman he had an affair with, made it emotionally distressing. I realized I had to make a difficult decision for my mental well-being and chose to walk away."

Seema Kapoor shared she lost her baby after the turmoil in her personal life 

Previously, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Seema Kapoor shared that when she was pregnant Nandita, who had an extramarital affair with her husband, Om Puri, became insecure of her. She would create a scene while Om Puri used to consume large quantities of alcohol. After facing the turmoil, she decided to leave when she was three months pregnant and tragically lost her baby. Recalling his reaction, she said:

"Forget consoling me. He sent Rs 25,000 via his secretary. I turned it down, and his secretary told me, 'This ego is destroying you'. But what he thought was ego was just self-respect."

Om Puri later married and separated from Nandita Puri 

Om Puri tied the knot with Nandita Puri after two years in 1993. They have a son named Ishaan. However, issues cropped up after 26 years of marriage when Nandita penned his biography of Om, Unlikely Hero: The Story of Om Puri. It stirred debate when she mentioned about his relationship with his 55-year-old maid at 14, which left the actor upset. On the other hand, Seema claimed that he asked her for an apology later in his life. In 2013, Nandita filed an allegation of domestic violence against him, and the two opted for a judicial separation shortly afterwards. Later, the actor passed away in 2017.
