Oscars 2026 Nominees List, Sinners And One Battle After Another Make History With Most Nominations

The excitement around the 98th Academy Awards is at its peak as the Oscars 2026 nominations were officially announced on January 22, 2026. For the unversed, the nominations were unveiled by actors, Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman. This year's nominations included some strong contenders and was full of unexpected turns. Sinners breaks records with 16 Oscars nominations

While the Oscars 2026 nomination is generating waves on social media, it is Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which is dominating the headlines. Reportedly, the film has received 16 nominations. For those who missed the nominations, the film, Sinners has been nominated in categories like Best Picture, Directing, Cinematography, Visual Effects, Sound, Film Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Casting, Original Screenplay, Original Score, Original Song and Makeup and Hairstyling.

Apart from this, Michael B. Jordan has been nominated for Actor in a leading role for his role in Sinners. For Actor in a supporting role, Delroy Lindo has been nominated for Sinners. Lastly, Wunmi Mosaku has also been nominated for Actress in supporting role for the film, Sinners.

One Battle After Another leads the race after Sinners

Apart from Sinners leading the race with 16 nominations, the film, One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, is grabbing attention. Reportedly, the film has received around 13 Oscars 2026 nominations. The much-loved film has received nominations in Best Picture, Directing, Cinematography, Sound, Film Editing, Production Design, Casting, Adapted Screenplay and Original Score. 

Apart from these, Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated for Actor in leading role, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro have received nomination in Actor in supporting role category and Teyana Taylor has been nominated for Actress in supporting role for the film, One Battle After Another.

Frankenstein wins it big

The film, Frankenstein is also grabbing attention for its multiple nominations. The film directed by Guillermo del Toro has received nominations in Best Picture, Sound, Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, Adapted Screenplay, Original Score and Makeup and Hairstyling. Jacob Elordi has been nominated for Actor in supporting role for Frankenstein.

Films that are nominated for Oscars 2026

Other films that are nominated for Best Picture are Bugonia, F1, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Train Dreams. For Directing, Hamnet, Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value have received nominations. Films competing in the race of Cinematography are Train Dreams and Marty Supreme. The films in the Visual Effects category include Avatar: Fire And Ash, F1, Jurassic World Rebirth and The Lost Bus. 

F1 and Sirat are nominated in the Sound category. Film Editing category includes F1, Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value. Films which are nominated in the Production Design category are Hamnet and Marty Supreme. Apart from this, films in the Animated Feature Film category include Arco, Elio, Kpop Demon Hunters, Little Amelie Or The Character Of Rain and Zootopia 2. International Feature Film category includes The Secret Agent, It Was Just An Accident, The Voice Of Hind Rajab and Sirat.

Films that are nominated for Original song include Diane Warren: Relentless, Train Dreams, Kpop Demon Hunters and Viva Verdii. Films nominated for Costume Design are Marty Supreme, Hamnet and Avatar: Fire and Ash. Films nominated in the Casting category are Hamnet, Marty Supreme and The Secret Agent. Apart from them, Blue Moon, It Was Just An Accident, Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value have been nominated in Original Screenplay category. It is worth mentioning that a few more films have been nominated in multiple categories.

Actors who have been nominated for Oscars 2026

Apart from films, some popular actors who have been nominated for Oscars 2026 are Jessie Buckley for Actress in a leading role for Hamnet, Timothee Chalamet for Marty Supreme and Wagner Moura for The Secret Agent in Actor in leading role category. Stellan Skarsgard has been nominated for Actor in a supporting role for the film, Sentimental Value. Lastly, Amy Madigan has been nominated for Weapons in the Actress in a supporting role category. In the same category, Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas have been nominated for their roles in Sentimental Value.
