Ozzy Osbourne was one of the most loved heavy metal singers in the industry. A soulful part of the iconic band, Black Sabbath, he was dubbed the 'Prince of Darkness'. Ozzy was among the founding members of the band. His demise left his entire family heartbroken, and while they found comfort in the love showered on them by the heavy metal fandom, the journey has not been easy.
Jack Osbourne opened up about his father's death in a recent interview with Good Morning America. During the conversation, he reflected on the overwhelming amount of love and support his family has received and on the moments leading up to his father's death. He shared that it wasn't something that they had expected, but found great comfort in it.
In the same conversation, Jack also gave an update about how his mother, Sharon Osbourne, had been coping with the loss. He revealed that it has been a mix of strength and heartbreak for her. He shared that while she feels the love, it has been a massive loss. He was quoted as saying:
"You know, when people have been asking me that question, I say, 'She's OK, but she's not OK. I know she feels the love… every child sits there and has this thought about one day that their parents won't be there, and what that will be like. It's just a part of being human. We just didn't think of it. It was a different weight to it, you know?"
Ozzy Osbourne passed away just 48 hours after he completed his memoir, Last Rites, which chronicles his decades in music and his often turbulent life. During the interview, the show's host quoted a line from the book, "If I'd been clean and sober, I wouldn't be Ozzy. If I had done normal, sensible things, I wouldn't be Ozzy," and asked Jack how true they were. Jack laughed and responded by stating that there was some truth to that. He was quoted as saying:
"There's definitely some truth to that. But here's the thing: he was clean and sober at the end. And he was still Ozzy. I think the last chapter's the hardest. He was happy. He was in such a good mood."
Just 17 days before his death, Ozzy Osbourne performed one last time with Black Sabbath took the stage for the last time. The band performed one last show on July 5, 2025, in Aston, Birmingham. The concert marked the final solo and group performance of Ozzy Osbourne's career. Jack recalled the day of the concert titled Back to the Beginning and shared:

"Before he went onstage, I ran back into the dressing room and I just gave him a big hug. I just kissed him. I just said, 'Crush it. You're gonna do so good.' We were both just crying; it wasn't because we felt sorry for him. It wasn't because we were sad for him. I think it was because we knew it was the last time. In hindsight, it kind of was a living wake, you know, if you think about it. He got to say goodbye to everyone."
