Pahalgam Attack: UP Man Shot In Front Of His Wife, Got Married In February, Were On A Holiday

The eve of April 22, 2025, brought the darkest clouds for the entire country, with the news of a henious attack in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir. A total of twenty six people fell victim of a terrorist attack, that turned a joyous holiday into a grievous one. According to reports and statements from the surviours of the attack, all the victims were asked their names before being mercilessly shot. Amid the victims was a 31 year old man, who had tied the knot not too long ago.

Twenty-six families lost their dear ones in the horrid attack on April 22, 2025. However, their loss and pain is being shared by the entire nation, with an uproar demanding justice. Among those was a man from the Kanpur area of Uttar Pradesh. The man, identified as Shubham Dwivedi, was on holiday in Kashmir with his family. He had tied the knot in February 2025, and had stepped out with his wife, Eshanya for horse riding that afternoon.

In a conversation with The Times of India, the victim, Shubham Dwivedi's uncle, Manoj Dwivedi, revealed what had occurred on the afternoon of April 22, 2025. He shared that the couple along with nine other family members had left for the Kashmir trip on April 17, 2025. However, Shubham and Eshanya left the hotel alone on the afternoon of the attack for horse riding. He was quoted as saying:

"The couple left their hotel at 1 pm on Tuesday for horse riding while the other members stayed back at the hotel. They were cornered by terrorists. The attackers enquired Eshanya about their identity. When Eshnaya told them that Shubham was her husband, the terrorists shot him dead in front of her."

In the same conversation, Manoj revealed that he received the tragic news over phone from his brother and Shubham's father, Sanjay Dwivedi. DCP East (Kanpur), Shrawan Kumar Singh, provided details about the victim's identity. He revealed that Shubham lived in the Chakeri area of Kanpur and worked for a cement company.

Shubham's cousin, Saurabh Dwivedi in a conversation with the Times of India, revealed that the victim had tied the knot on February 13, 2025. He also shared that their family was scheduled to return on April 23, 2025. The news of the demise has left the entire family in shock and heartbroken.

The attack occurred in the late afternoon of April 22, 2025, after unidentified gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Pahalgam's Baisaran in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the reports there have been 26 deaths. Security forces rushed to the area of attack after gunshots were heard. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi cut short his trip to Dubai and returned to India after he was informed of the attack.
