Navy Lieutenant, Vinay Narwal's demise at the Pahalgam terror attack has left hearts broken into pieces. The 26-year-old Navy officer was on a honeymoon with his wife, Himanshi, and he got defeated by the major blow of destiny. Vinay was killed as he was not a Muslim, and the fact that he just started a new phase of his life, has left the entire nation devastated. In the visuals from Pahalgam, Vinay's wife, Himanshi was seen breaking down in tears and such glimpses were enough to keep the blood of the entire nation boiling.

Amid this terrifying situation, a video had gone viral, which was first claimed to be of Himanshi and Vinay's. It was claimed that the couple had shot the clip just before the attack took place, and it instantly hit people's already grief-stricken hearts, who couldn't come to terms with the brutality of the incident of Pahalgam. Later, a travel content creator couple came forward and stated that their video was misused and the vial video, which was claimed to be of Vinay and Himanshi's, was actually theirs.

Such an incident again raised questions about the misuse of social media for the sake of views, even when the nation is terrified. Now, Vinay's family was asked about their reaction to social media attention in this tough time. As per The Print, Vinay's sister, Srishti Narwal said that social media is a double-edged sword. She shared social media can breach someone's privacy, and also added that social media has the power to assure justice as well. Vinay's sister can be quoted as saying:

“Social media’s a double-edged sword. At one level, it’s an invasion of our privacy. But it also widens support, and can assure justice."

Vinay Narwal's father reacts to people misusing social media over his son's demise

Vinay Narwal's cousin shared that it's tough for him as whenever he's trying to forget by being on the phone, social media is reminding him about the same again and again. Another cousin of Vinay revealed that he was really kind, and from a young age, he wanted to be a pilot. Vinay's father, who recently reached Srinagar, was asked about the video that was falsely claimed to be of the late Navy officer and his wife's.

To this, the grief-stricken father revealed that he is not in the state to check what is going on on social media. He further added that social media has its own use and people shouldn't edit or doctor content. Talking more about the shocking incident, the father stated that the Government has helped them. In Vinay's father's words:

"I wasn’t in a condition to see what was going on. I had blacked out. The government supported and managed everything. I have nothing to blame them for. I’m not in a condition to see what’s happening on social media, nor do I have the time. It has its uses, but people shouldn’t doctor or edit images.”

Vinay Narwal joined the Indian Navy two years back, and he got married only 7 days ago. He and his wife decided to go to Switzerland for their honeymoon, but couldn't due the visa issues, thus, they headed toward Kashmir on April 21, 2025. On April 22, 2025, terrorists attacked the tourists and Vinay was one of the targets of them. His wife Himanshi revealed that her husband was killed for not being a Muslim.
