Palak Tiwari is slowly but steadily making her way to stardom, and fans have liked her on-screen presence. But behind her confident persona lies the relentless voice of someone who is both her fiercest critic and her biggest cheerleader: her TV superstar mom, Shweta Tiwari. In a recent interview, the budding actress opened up on her unique bond with her mother, calling her ‘indubitably’ her biggest critic.
In a recent interview with the Free Press Journal, Palak Tiwari opened up about growing up as the daughter of television star, Shweta Tiwari, best known for her role in the iconic daily soap, Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Palak shared how their bond goes beyond the usual mother-daughter dynamic, as Shweta’s honest, often tough feedback stems from her own experiences in the industry. Palak called her mom her biggest critic, whose tough love is rooted in a genuine desire to see her succeed. She shared:
“She understands my capabilities far better than I do. In fact, we’re quite similar — this is around the same age she started her career, actually five years younger than I am now. Our growth trajectories are quite alike, and because of how similar we are, she knows exactly where I’m going wrong.”
Palak admitted that their parallel journeys in showbiz have only strengthened their bond. The Bhootnii actress shared that many of the roles and scenes she performs now are similar to those her mother, Shweta Tiwari, took on at the same age. This has helped Shweta guide her daughter on what not to do, preventing the mistakes she made. A grateful Palak remarks:
“We’re very similar kinds of actors, so there’s really no one better to guide me than her. She’s experienced the same kind of roles, the same kind of scenes, at the same age. She’ll often say, ‘Hey, this is where I got stuck, and I hated watching myself do that, so don’t repeat that mistake’... When you’ve raised a child, you notice their expressions and certain little habits. So she’ll see me doing something and go, ‘That’s cute in real life, but don’t ever do that on screen — it looks terrible!’ It’s honestly such a blessing to have an actor as a mom.”
The budding actress recalled a moment when her mother expressed concern that Palak’s intense expressions—especially when she’s angry or misbehaving—might unintentionally appear on screen and affect her performance. She shared:
“She once told me…‘Whenever we fight, and you get angry… I get scared to see your expressions because they come off as really negative — I hope that never shows up on screen!’ And I was like, ‘Seriously, Mom? While I was delivering a three-page monologue, you were focused on my expressions instead of my lines?’ But that’s just who she is — she believes in me so deeply and always wants the best for me. She truly hopes the world sees what she sees in me.”
Call it maternal instinct or the seasoned eye of a veteran actor, Shweta Tiwari’s sharp attention to detail helps keep Palak grounded as she navigates the challenges of building her own identity in showbiz. At the end of the day, it's her mother who believes in her potential even more than she does. On the work front, Palak had two back-to-back releases in May 2025, The Bhootnii and Romeo S3.
