Gangs Of Wasseypur fame, Pankaj Tripathi had met Mridula at a wedding ceremony back in 1993. It was love at first sight for him. However, Pankaj had initially struggled to convince her parents to their marriage as his sister was married to Mridula’s brother, and it was against traditions to have more than one marriage in the same family.
From communicating through love letters once every 10 days to fixed phone calls at 8 p.m. every night, the madly-in-love couple had overcome all the geographical barriers to maintain their long-distance relationship. And finally, on January 16, 2004, the actor had tied the knot with the woman of his dreams, Mridula in an intimate wedding ceremony. The lovebirds were blessed with a daughter, Aashi in 2006. Moreover, Mridula, with her stable teaching career, had financially supported her husband’s passion for acting for over 10 years.
In a recent interview with India Today, the doting hubby and successful actor, Pankaj Tripathi shared a good news. He revealed that his wife, Mridula is making her Bollywood debut with his upcoming film, Sherdil. He mentioned how Mridula agreed to do a cameo appearance of a Bengali character without even asking for a payment in return. In his words:
"My wife Mridula will be debuting with Sherdil. She has done one scene in the film. Director Srijit Mukerjee, who has a Bengali connection with my wife, asked her to come on the sets and promised to give her one scene. She immediately said yes because she got to wear a beautiful Bengali saree in the film. It was an easy bribe, she didn't even get paid."
Further in the conversation, Pankaj revealed if his daughter, Aashi Tripathi has any plan of stepping her foot into Bollywood and becoming an actress. Reflecting on the same, the Mirzapur actor said that his dearest daughter is a bright student and Literature interests her a lot. Pankaj can be quoted as saying:
"As of now she has no plans to enter Bollywood. Right now she is studying. I haven't seen the future yet but will see when the time comes. For now, I want her to study hard and play sports. But she writes really well, she is very good at literature and is at the top of her class. Also, she reads a lot, but for now, she hasn't shown any interest. Will see what happens in the future."
In an old interview with The Times Of India, Pankaj Tripathi had shared that he and his wifey, Mridula have been living in Mumbai for many years now, but they have no aspirations for extravagant assets and luxurious lifestyles. Coming from a humble background, Pankaj and Mridula are content with whatever they have. Pankaj could be quoted as saying:
“I am the son of a farmer and growing up in a remote village in Bihar, we had barely seen any money. My parents didn’t even have a television at home. I believe you don’t need an extravagant amount of money to be happy or comfortable in life. I always try to stay happy with what I have.”
