Late legendary Ghazal singer, Pankaj Udhas left the entire nation teary-eyed on February 26, 2024, as he breathed his last. His family announced the demise of the famous singer and revealed that he had been suffering from a prolonged illness. On February 27, 2024, the film fraternity joined the grieving family and paid their last homage to the Chithi Aayi Hai singer.
Ghazal singer, Pankaj Udhas, whose melodious voice gave new meaning to love and heartache in songs such as Aur Ahista Kijiye Baatein, Chandi Jaisa Roop Hai Tera, and many more, passed away at the age of 72. His wife, Frida and their daughters, Nayaab Udhas and Reva Udhas, looked heartbroken. His youngest daughter, Reva couldn't stop crying and almost broke down during Pankaj's last rites. Several celebrities likes Sonu Nigam, Sulaiman Merchant and many more.

The legendary singer, Pankaj Udhas' family, confirmed the shocking news with a press statement shared by his daughter, Nayaab Udhas, on her Instagram handle. For the unversed, Pankaj Udhas was a Padmashri recipient, and he breathed his last on February 26, 2024. The Udhas' family' statement could be read as:
"With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhar on February 26, 2024, due to a prolonged illness."

As soon as the news came out, celebrities expressed their condolences. Sonu Nigam expressed how he has lost a part of his childhood with the sudden demise of Pankaj Udhas. He wrote, "One of the most important parts of my childhood is lost today. Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, I will miss you forever. My heart cries knowing that you are no more. Thank you for being there. Om Shanti."
In an earlier interview with DNA, Udhas opened up about borrowing money from his wife, Farida, while they were not married at the time. The singer had revealed that when he was launching his first album, he ran short of a few thousand rupees, and his lady love, Farida, also didn't have money at that time. However, the next day, she gave him the money, and it was the most special moment for him. He was quoted as saying:
"While I was launching my first album, I ran short of a few thousand rupees. Farida didn’t have money either. We weren’t married then. But the next day she handed over the sum to me. She had borrowed it. Nothing can match this ever. We’ve promised each other that no matter how much we argue, we’ll never fight over religion."
