Indian business tycoon, Mukesh Ambani and his wife, Nita Ambani, hosted a grand three-day pre-wedding soiree for their youngest child, Anant Ambani, in March 2024 in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The Ambanis left no stone unturned in making the occasion special for the soon-to-be-married couple, Anant and Radhika. Scores of people from different walks of life gathered in Jamnagar to celebrate the union of the young couple. It became one of the most talked about events on the social calendar of Tinseltown, and everyone wanted to capture a glimpse of it.
Recently, the seasoned paparazzo, Varinder Chawla talked about covering Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding held in Jamnagar. During his conversation on Hindi Rush’s YouTube talk show, one of the hosts asked him if celebrities provide reimbursements to the paparazzi if they get married outside Mumbai. Answering it, Varinder said that they incur losses in such cases. He cited the example of Ambani’s bash and said that his team did not make money covering the soiree. Sharing that all the paparazzi wanted to cover such a big event, Varinder said:
“It wasn’t like we were invited to Jamnagar recently. We cover it because we know the entire film industry is going to be there. I went myself, but we couldn’t find a single hotel room; the entire town was booked out. Somehow, we managed to get one room and three of us squeezed in together.”

Further, in the conversation, Varinder revealed that the transportation cost in the city increased manifolds. He said that Ambanis gave them special badges so that they could easily access Jamnagar’s airport and also made arrangements for the paparazzi so that they could sit. Varinder also mentioned that they weren’t invited to the bash. Still, they tried to get some glimpses of the events, but they failed due to the impenetrable security around the venue. In his words:
“Local drivers were charging three or four times the normal rate to transport us around the town. At the airport, they gave us badges and had created a special area for the media. But it’s not like they invited us inside the venue to cover the wedding. I tried to see if I could get in, but it was like a fortress.”

In the same conversation, Varinder was asked if South stars are as humble as they are portrayed in the media. The paparazzo said that these regional stars fake their humbleness. He added that these celebrities pretend in front of the camera. Revealing that Vijay Deverakonda deliberately wore chappals during his film’s promotion, Varinder said:
“To be honest, I think woh log naklipan karte hai. They act like that only for the camera. There was an actor who would appear in slippers during the promotions of the film to deliberately pretend to be humble in front of the camera.”
Varinder also recalled another such incident, where a South superstar misbehaved with his photographers outside a hotel. Varinder mentioned that they did not upload the video, but other publications did. While he refrained from naming the actor, it was none other than Jr NTR.
