Paresh Rawal Didn't Speak To Swaroop Sampat For A Year After Falling In Love, She Called Him 'Dumb'

Paresh Rawal is a poignant name in Hindi cinema and has impressed millions with his effortless roles. The actor, known for his slapstick comedy, began his career playing antagonist and later switched to comedy. Some of his remarkable performances include Andaz Apna Apna, Chachi 420, Hera Pheri, Awara Paagal Deewana, Hungama, Garam Masala, Ready, OMG, and many more. 

Paresh Rawal is currently leading all the headlines after he announced his exit from the much-awaited film, Hera Pheri 3. Paresh played the iconic character of ‘Baburao’ in the film’s prequel, and was loved by the audience; however, his exit came as a shock to his die-hard fans. Recently, a fan requested the actor to reconsider his decision to leave the upcoming film, to which Paresh replied:

“NO … There are Three Heroes in Hera Pheri.”

Paresh’s reply left netizens confused, and his fans are wondering whether he joined the franchise since the actor mentioned ‘three’ heroes. Meanwhile, many speculated that Paresh’s exit might be a PR stunt. Just like Paresh Rawal’s professional life, his personal life, too, has garnered a lot of attention. The actor fell in love with his boss’s daughter and got married to her.

Paresh Rawal didn’t speak to Swaroop Sampat for one year after falling in love with her

It was love at first sight for Paresh Rawal, who was smitten by Swaroop’s beauty. She was handing out brochures at an Indian National Theatre festival, where her father was the chief producer. At the same event, Paresh and his college friends were performing their play. It was at that moment that Paresh told his friend that he was going to marry her. 

However, despite falling in love with her, Paresh couldn’t muster the courage to speak to her and would see her from a distance. Swaroop recalled the same and called Paresh ‘dumb’ for not speaking to her for nearly one year. Speaking about it in an interaction with Bollywood Bubble, Swaroop said:

“I was wearing a pink saree and I was handing out brochures. And Paresh walks in with his friend and he says, he is going to marry me. But you know he is so dumb, he didn’t talk to me for nearly a year.”

Paresh Rawal was possessive towards Swaroop Sampat during their dating days

Paresh and Swaroop’s innate love for theatre and acting brought them close. Swaroop was Paresh’s die-hard fan and loved every performance of his. In an interview with The Free Press Journal, Swaroop revealed that Paresh was clear about getting married to her since the beginning. He told Swaroop that they would only get into the relationship if they had plans to marry. In the same interview, Swaroop spoke about Paresh’s possessiveness during their courtship period and said:

“Even during our courtship days, Paresh was the possessive one. He would not like it if I paid attention to anyone else. But now, after many years of knowing each other, he is relatively chilled out.”

Paresh Rawal and Swaroop Sampat married after 12 years of courtship

Paresh and Swaroop met in the 1970s and dated throughout the 80s. The duo tied the knot after 12 years of courtship. The reason behind the delay was that he wanted to settle his career before getting married to her. Swaroop, too, was very clear that she would not elope with Paresh as she was the only daughter born in her family after years. After Paresh’s career took off, the duo got married in an intimate ceremony in 1987 and embraced parenthood with the arrival of their sons, Aditya Rawal and Aniruddh Rawal.
