Parineeti Chopra is currently basking in the immense success of her latest released film, Amar Singh Chamkila. In the movie, she portrayed the role of the late singer, Amar Singh Chamkila's second wife, Amarjot, and blew minds with her acting mettle. However, in several interviews, she mentioned the various challenges she had to face to gel into the character. One of them was that she was asked to put on kilos of weight by the film's director, Imtiaz Ali, for her role, according to Parineeti.
A Reddit user shared clips from different interviews of Parineeti Chopra and Imtiaz Ali, wherein they talked about the actress' weight issue for the role of 'Amarjot'. In one of the segments of the video, Parineeti can be seen opening up about the same weight issue. She mentioned how the director had advised her to put 20 kilos of weight for the role. Moreover, the actress elaborated how Imtiaz had asked her to look the worst version of herself to portray the role. Parineeti said:
"When Imtiaz sir said that this a film where you have to sing live on-set. You have to put on 20-16 kilos for this film, which I ended up putting. You've to put on 20 kilos for this film. You too not have a patch of makeup on your face. You have to sort of look your worst in the film."

Contrary to Parineeti's statement, in another segment of the video, Imtiaz can be heard saying how Parineeti looked much similar to the real-life singer, Amarjot. In one interview, he said, "She looks a lot like Amarjot." In another candid conversation, the director elaborated on the various aspects of Parineeti and Amarjot that matched perfectly. Imtiaz stated:
"Unki toh shakal bhi milti hai. Singer hai, Punjabi hai, shakal bhi milti hai. Unhone apna kuch wajan badhaya. Saat kilo ya das kilo. Bahut jyada unhone bajan badhaya."
Soon after the video was posted online, netizens slammed the actress for her statement. The Reddit user captioned the video as "Parineeti's shocking lie: "Imtiaz Ali told me to put on 20 KG WEIGHT" - Imtiaz Ali never said that." Thus, many users then mentioned that Parineeti was lying about the same.

It all started when the diva graced an event of her last released film, wearing a breezy kaftan, and such a comfortable choice of attire made everyone believe that the diva was expecting her first child. But, she penned a note dismissing all such buzz, which read as:
“Kaftan dress=pregnancy, Oversized shirt=pregnancy, Comfy Indian kurta=pregnancy.”
