Paris Hilton Talks About Her Intimate Video Getting Leaked At The Age Of 19, 'They Called Me Names'

Paris Hilton spoke about the abuse she faced after her intimate video was leaked

Paris Hilton, who recently spoke about the Disrupt Explicit Forged Images and Non-Consensual Edits Act, became emotional as she recalled her own experience. The socialite spoke about her own private video getting leaked at the age of 19 and how it was a traumatising experience for her. Standing alongside Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Paris revealed:

“When I was 19 years old, a private, intimate video of me was shared with the world without my consent. People called it a scandal. It wasn't. It was abuse. There were no laws at the time to protect me. There weren't even words for what had been done to me. The internet was still new, and so was the cruelty that came with it."

Paris Hilton revealed that people asked her to be quiet

For the unversed, Paris Hilton has campaigned to pass a bill that enacted protection for institutionalised youth. In the same interaction, Paris revealed she underwent immense shame and humiliation after her video got leaked. The socialite, who has been advocating social causes, felt not just losing her reputation but also the control over her own body.

Paris further revealed how she became the laughing stock with punchlines dedicated to her. Paris also shared that there are "over 100,000 explicit deepfake images" of her that have been "made by AI." Revealing how she was expected to not react to the ‘scandal’, she recalled:

“They called me names. They laughed and made me the punchline. They sold my pain for clicks, and then they told me to be quiet, to move on, to even be grateful for the attention. These people didn't see me as a young woman who had been exploited. They didn't see the panic that I felt, the humiliation or the shame. No one asked me what I lost — I lost control over my body, over my reputation. My sense of safety and self-worth was stolen from me.”

It was in 2001, when Paris Hilton’s homemade s*x tape with her then boyfriend, Rick Salomon, got leaked. She was only 19 at that time, and the video, which was never intended for public viewing, was leaked. In her book, Paris: The Memoir, the socialite revealed that Rick wanted to film their intimate moment, but she felt uncomfortable filming it. Paris revealed that she was pressured into making the tape and was assured that "no one else would ever see it."
