Paris Jackson, daughter of pop legend Michael Jackson, was all set to let the stars guide her down the aisle with long-time partner, Justin Long, but fate had other plans. Just eight months after their engagement, the 27-year-old singer and actress has seemingly confirmed their breakup. Recently spotted walking alone in Malibu, visibly emotional, many believed she was mourning her father on his 16th death anniversary. However, Paris cleared the air, revealing on social media that the emotional moment was due to ‘breakup tears,’ not grief.
The news of her breakup has left fans shocked, as Paris and Justin appeared blissfully in sync, given their not-so-old engagement, public appearances, and loved-up posts on social media. Her last Instagram update, dated July 19, 2025, showed sweet moments with Long, captioned, ‘It’s been a hell of a summer so far.’ This has made their breakup even more shocking to their fans.
Behind the scenes, Paris and Justin’s wedding plans were already well underway. Paris had revealed in an interview not so long ago that the union was being guided by the stars, literally. From a custom dress to an astrologer-chosen date, here’s a look back at the vision Paris Jackson had for her celestial wedding.
Earlier this month, the Daily Mail published photos of Paris Jackson looking visibly emotional during a solo walk on a Malibu street. The Hit Your Knees singer, who had just wrapped up her summer tour with Incubus, quickly addressed the speculation on X. Many fans initially believed she was mourning her late father, Michael Jackson, whose death anniversary had just passed. However, Paris set the record straight, posting:
"Those are breakup tears. Y'all are fkn reaching again."
Jackson and Long’s relationship dates back to 2022. After dating for a couple of years, the duo announced their engagement on Justin’s birthday, December 6, 2024, during a romantic trip to Paris. The singer has shared the moment on her Instagram, calling their relationship an ‘indescribable whirlwind,’ adding that she couldn’t dream of anyone more perfect to spend her life with. The since-deleted post read:

“Happy birthday my sweet blue. doing life with you these last years has been an indescribable whirlwind, and i couldn’t dream of anyone more perfect for me to do it all with. thank you for letting me be yours. i love you.”
Weeks before their sudden split, Paris Jackson had shared dreamy details about her wedding plans with the music producer, revealing they were turning to astrology to choose their ideal date, and even the dress was astrologer-picked.
Jackson and Long, both known for their spiritual learnings, had mutually agreed on seeking an astrologer’s guidance for their nuptial plans. The songwriter said astrology played a key role in the timing and energy of the event. Crystals, lunar cycles, and planetary alignments weren’t just symbolic; they were essential.
Potential wedding dates had also been set, one of them being June 25, which coincided with a new moon in Cancer, a sign associated with emotional renewal and home. Interestingly, this date also coincided with the anniversary of her father, Michael Jackson’s death. Another astrologically significant option was December 7, when Venus, Mars, and the Sun would align in Sagittarius, Justin Long’s zodiac sign.
Paris had mentioned that her wedding dress was already in the works, though she never shared a sneak peek. And now, it seems fans will never get to see the singer-actress wear that dress. Given her boho-meets-rockstar aesthetics, it’s safe to assume the gown would have embodied her personality with a fusion of vintage textures and spiritual symbolism.
Even though the venue of the wedding had been finalised, Jackson chose to keep the details private. During the promotion of her film, One Spoon of Chocolate, the actress had told Access Hollywood:
"We're planning. The dress is being made, the venue has been picked, [and] the date has been picked by an astrologer because I'm from L.A., so all about the crystals, and the astrologer, and all that stuff."
Paris Jackson and music producer Justin Long’s love story was as musical as their personal lives. Their first interaction happened in 2022, when they met backstage at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And two years later, they were engaged and ready to embark on their new chapter. Recalling the moment in a June interview with Access Hollywood, Jackson said:
“He’s a sound engineer, and we were looking over the tape. He wanted to interject, and he wanted to put in his two cents. He looked at me and was like, ‘Can I?’ And I was like, ‘I trust you.’ And we had a little moment. And then we kinda started dating very shortly after that.”
Justin Long has played a major role in producing some of Paris’s recent work and has often stayed out of the limelight, supporting her from behind the scenes. Their romance was intimate, artistic, and for a while, seemingly written in the stars. But now, with the engagement called off, Jackson’s celestial plans remain a bittersweet what-could-have-been.
It now seems Paris’s cosmic union with Justin may never happen, and the dress may just stay somewhere in storage, unfinished!
