The actor has become a prominent figure in the ‘Korean Wave’, thanks to his versatile acting, stellar on-screen presence and massive global recognition that attracts a large international fanbase. Now, the South Korean heartthrob is diving into action, comedy, and crime in his upcoming K-drama, Good Boy

Park Bo Gum calls Good Boy his ‘second chance’

Park Bo Gum was drafted for the mandatory military services, where he served in the South Korean Navy’s Military Band, and returned in February 2022. Good Boy is his first project post-military. In a roundtable interview with News18, Bo Gum opened up about how this new series marks a bold, fresh chapter in his career. He was quoted as saying:

“After finishing my military service, I think meeting Good Boy as the first project to come back was a second chance that I got and a challenge that I took on for myself. Not only because it’s a new genre, it’s action, comedy and crime investigation, which I’ve never done before, but everything about it was a new challenge for me, and it was really fun. And thanks to meeting such good people to work with, I was filled with a lot of gratitude while on set. It was a great experience.”

Park Bo Gum on how Good Boy reinvents the K-drama experience

Park Bo Gum believes that the show reflects the evolving landscape of K-dramas, noting that earlier K-dramas lacked the thematic variety seen today. With Good Boy, the actor-singer promises viewers a rich blend of storylines and emotions that would resonate with a universal audience. In his words:

“In the past, the subject matters that were dealt with in K-dramas were not as diverse as we see today… I think this time around, in Good Boy, it’s definitely going to have different storylines and emotions that you can all relate to. Not only that, the visuals are stunning, the direction is top notch, and the cast will bring a new side that you haven’t seen in them before… There’s also food for thought… You’ll be asking yourselves: Is this really a K-drama?”

Park Bo Gum sends a special message to Indian fans

Park Bo Gum has a deep love and admiration for India, and over the years, he has built a massive Indian fanbase. During the roundtable interview, the Reply 1988 actor took out time to personally thank his Indian fans for their love and support with a ‘Dhanyavad’. He also expressed his desire to come to India when he gets a chance. He said:

“To my Indian friends, Dhanyavad. Is that right? Thank you for your support and love. I really want to go to India. I don’t know when, but if I have a chance to go to India, I really want to meet and greet you all. I hope so. So thank you a lot. Dhanyavad.”
