Parth Samthaan has been in the process of replacing the senior actor and OG 'ACP Pradhyuman', Shivaji Satam, in CID Season 2. While the news came as a shock to the fans of the crime series, it left Parth's fans rejoicing. However, did you know that Parth had initially refused the offer to play the cherished role?
Parth Samthaan is set to return to the television industry after five long years. However, stepping into the shoes of someone who aced the role can prove to be difficult. Shivaji Satam created a loyal fanbase during his stint in CID. Nonetheless, Parth didn't refuse the part because of the iconic portrayal, but he rejected it because he was hesitant about them addressing him as 'Sir'. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Parth shared his reason for not wanting to do the role. He was quoted as saying:
"Initially, I rejected the role of ACP Pradyuman because I don't relate to it. But the makers asked me to reconsider. I was also hesitant due to the show's long-standing cast and the fact that they'd have to address me as 'sir' on screen. It felt a bit unusual and awkward."
In the same conversation, Parth Samthaan also acknowledged the backlash on social media. He addressed the comments against him taking the role of 'ACP Pradyuman' and shared that he would rather focus on the positive feedback. He added that the excitement surrounding his return is what he was concentrating on. He was quoted as saying:
"I was waiting for the right opportunity to make my comeback on TV. I was offered a few scripts, but they were all similar, romantic roles. When this show was offered to me, I decided to take on the challenge."
Parth Samthaan also shared his views on balancing other commitments. The actor addressed the possibility and stated that the team was extremely cooperative. He added that if there are any conflicts, he will make sure to discuss them with the producers so that they can come to a satisfactory resolution.
