They have been apprehended and served legal notices, photos of which were shared on Maharashtra Cyber's official Instagram handle. The authorities tracked the original uploader responsible for the initial distribution, with an arrest expected imminently as the investigation continues to map the full network. A criminal FIR (No. 52/2025) was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the IT Act, specifically targeting online defamation, identity fraud, and the publication of s**ually explicit material.

Following police action, one of the accused in the Payal Gaming MMS case issued a public apology for his role in defaming Payal Gaming. The individual who created Payal Gaming's fake 19-minute video himself revealed his name as Abhishek Jadhav in a video. The main uploader of the objectionable content expressed regret for sharing fabricated visuals of Payal Gaming, apologising to her and the Maharashtra Cyber unit. He revealed his Instagram ID as 'dobiga' and admitted to creating a deepfake video using AI to defame the gaming YouTuber.

The video was titled 'Payal Gaming Dubai MMS' to make it catchy and get lots of clicks and downloads. The reason for the creator of the viral content targetting Payal might be her elevated fame following a recent cricket match appearance. In late 2025, the YouTube gained massive popularity as the viral girl in the stands during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final match between India and Australia in Dubai.
