Payal Malik, Armaan Malik, and Kritika Malik's complicated family equation made headlines after they appeared on the reality show, Bigg Boss OTT 3. While the Malik family's fans, who have seen them struggle, cheered for them, some, including renowned celebrities, slammed the trio and the makers of the show. However, in the recent Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Payal was evicted from the show. Many people thought it was because of the hate that the makers received and to stop promoting polygamy in the show.
Ever since, Payal stepped out of Bigg Boss OTT 3, there are rumours that claim she was deliberately evicted by the makers after they received backlash for promoting polygamy. In an interview with Filmibeat, Payal shared her side of the story. The YouTuber stated that while the show is being accused of promoting polygamy, it is not the reason behind her eviction. She added that the power to eliminate her was in the hands of Baharwala. She said:
"I don't think so I have been removed because the makers wanted to stop promoting polygamy. My nomination itself was wrong, and also because the power of removing me was in the hands of Baharwala, that's the reason I am out."

After the grand premiere, Devoleena was one of the few who openly criticised Bigg Boss makers for bringing Armaan and his two wives on the show. She clearly stated that the show was promoting polygamy and having a wrong influence on society. In a long note on X, Devoleena expressed her anger with the makers. She bashed the YouTuber and his life choices, and how makers were trying to make it normal. She stated that Bigg Boss has a wide audience, including children and old people, and it would set a wrong example. She also added that if a woman had two husbands, she would have been bashed.
After coming out of the show, Payal received a lot of media questions as everyone wanted to know her life story. In an interview with The Indian Express, Payal Malik admitted that Armaan had wronged her because she had left her family to marry him, and he went on to marry another girl. Within a matter of six days, he fell in love with her best friend, Kritika. Payal added that she was dependent on him, and it was an injustice for her.
Payal further revealed that despite Armaan's betrayal, she chose to be with him because she was madly in love with him. Also, she was emotionally and financially weak, and had no family support. Payal added that she also had a son with him, which is another reason why she accepted Armaan's decision to marry another woman. She also heaped praise on Kritika, who stayed with her like a sister.
