Payal has also appeared in reality TV shows like Bigg Boss and Lock Upp. The actress married wrestler and motivational speaker, Sangram Singh, in 2022. However, their marital bliss has been shrouded in the dark shadows of doubt and public arguments, which have fueled divorce speculations after Payal resigned from her position at Sangram's charitable foundation. While Sangram had cleared the air about the speculations, it seems like his wife, Payal, was deeply affected by them.

Speculations around Sangram Singh and Payal Rohatgi surfaced online around their third anniversary after the latter decided to step down from her position as the director of her husband's charitable foundation. Sangram previously issued a statement clarifying that they were very much together. However, it was during a conversation with News18 Showsha when he shared how, while rumours like these do not bother him, his wife, Payal, was affected by them. He was quoted as saying:

"10-12 years ago, such news would affect me. Even a single negative comment would hurt me. But now, I’ve developed a thick skin. We lead public lives, so the idea is to not get affected by what people say. People love reading negative headlines. But Payal ji was affected. She overthinks a lot and then explodes."

Sangram Singh, in the same conversation, revealed that the divorce buzz made rounds on the day of their third anniversary, which affected their families as well. He shared that they started getting frantic messages and calls from their relatives and the media. He revealed that it was only then that they decided to issue a statement. He stated:

"We began getting frantic messages from family members, relatives and members of the media. We kept wondering what we should do, and that’s when I decided to issue a clarification. And once I posted the picture, it cleared the air. But all of this felt wrong. I don’t understand why people speculate without confirming with us first. These things affect our families."

Payal received widespread criticism for her rude exchange with journalists who had reached out to her for a statement. In the same conversation, Sangram revealed that in the past, he would have dissuaded her from making any public comments; he now understands that she is extremely expressive and that is the way she handles things. He shared that in the past, he has often asked her not to put things on social media as it affects her image and reputation, but Payal disagrees. 

Sangram further explained that Payal is blunt and that is her nature. He shared that he used to explain to her that these things affect our own peace of mind, but those talks would result in arguments. He further revealed that they are together because they are so different as individuals. He added:

"I've often told her in the past not to put up certain things on social media as it affects her image and reputation, but she disagrees. Agar unko khushi mile, toh daale. Payal ji has no filter and is blunt, but that’s her nature. I used to explain to her that these things affect our own peace of mind, but those talks would result in arguments. But hum alag hai, issi liye saath hai. Had we been similar, we wouldn’t have been together."
