For the unversed, Rupali's step-daughter, Esha Verma, has made some shocking claims against the actress, like ruining her life by being indulged in an extra-marital affair with her father, Ashwin K Verma, body shaming, and even threatening her. Well, Rupali first kept mum about this, but she recently filed Rs. 50 crore defamation case against Esha. For the same reason, the actress has been being trolled, and now, actress, Payal Rohatgi slammed Rupali for opting for this step against Esha.

Well, as the reports about Rupali Ganguly filing Rs. 50 crore defamation case against Esha Verma made rounds on social media, Payal took to her IG handle and slammed the actress.

She re-shared a report about Rupali's defamation case and penned a note, wherein she stated that it's called 'karma' for the things she had done to an already-married man, Ashwin's previous wife by getting married to him. She further added that there are other options, and she could have sorted things out in court by taking the proofs there rather than demanding this much money as defamation. Payal further asked Rupali if she's broke and questioned if she could even understand the value of this much money. She wrote:
"Whatever your truth Rupali but u did marry a guy who was married when u met him. It's called karma when u do what u do to the earlier wife. The daughter of the earlier wife will have her narrative. Rest figure it out in courts with your proof. But why did u ask for so much money as defamation? Are u broke? Do u all even understand what is 50 crores working in serials?"
In an interview with NDTV, Rupali Ganguly's lawyer, Sana Raees Khan revealed the reason for the actress charging such a huge amount from Esha Verma. She said that Esha tried to malign Rupali Ganguly's image, which impacted the actress' professional image, and for the same reason, Rs. 50 crore is imposed upon her. Sana also mentioned that after the case was filed, Esha deleted her Twitter account and even deleted all the posts regarding Rupali and Ashwin, which the lawyer and the actress have taken as a victory and a meaningful step toward justice.
Anupamaa brought Rupali Ganguly immense name and fame. If the reports are to be believed, she is currently one of the highest-paid television actresses. As per a report by Siasat, she bags a hefty amount of Rs. 3 lakh per episode for her role in the show. Talking about her net worth, as per a report by the Economic Times, it's around Rs. 20 crore.
