In an interview with ETimes, Pooja Banerjee shared the good news with everybody and opened up about her pregnancy plans. She mentioned how she had wanted to conceive in 2020 but had met with an accident. Sharing the details, she said:
“Sandeep and I wanted to conceive in 2020, but we put the plan on hold after I met with an accident in 2019 (on Nach Baliye). However, when the second lockdown was implemented, I realised ki yeh toh chalta hi rahega. We decided not to delay it because we didn’t want to become parents at a later stage. But we thought of having a baby next year since I was shooting for the show away from home for almost two months due to restrictions imposed in Maharashtra and travelling.”
Further in the interview, the actress revealed that she had learnt about her pregnancy on the set of one of her TV shows. She also opened up about her husband, Sandeep Sejwal's reaction when he had got to know about the good news. Recalling the moment, Pooja shared:
“I felt that something was not right. So, one day before leaving for the shoot, I went for a blood test. Around 4 pm, I got the report stating that I was pregnant. I asked Sandeep to pick me up that day, as I didn’t want to break the news over a phone call. He did a happy dance when he learnt about it (laughs!). Both of us want to have a daughter. I want to dress her and make her wear nice swimming costumes.”

The actress was asked if she would take a break from work and take care of herself and the baby. To which, the mommy-to-be said that she hasn’t thought about it yet, and mentioned that she would like to go with the flow. Pooja also revealed that the makers of Kumkum Bhagya are very considerate and make her comfortable while she is on the set. Pointing out the same, Pooja said:
“I will go with the flow. Initially, I had some difficulty because of fatigue and morning sickness. What happens in the future needs to be figured out, but there is still time for it. The unit has been considerate and working around my requirements and comfort. I wish everybody would do that. Working women, who wish to go the family way, should be encouraged to do it.”
Pooja also opened up about the makers of the show, Kumkum Bhagya's reaction, when she had told them about her pregnancy. Sharing the details, Pooja said:
"So, I approached the makers with an option to release me if it was getting difficult for them, as I was anyway planning to quit the show in a couple of months. They could have replaced me. However, they told me that they wanted me on the show and asked me, ‘ Aap delivery ke kitne din ke baad resume karoge?' (laughs!)."
Concluding the interview, Pooja talked about how she continues to follow her routine, especially swimming twice a week. She revealed:
“Each body reacts differently to pregnancy. Aap jo cheez karte aa rahe ho agar aap woh karte rahoge toh aapko koi problem nahi hogi unless your doctors suggest otherwise. I am swimming, working and cooking; these are three things I love doing the most. Fortunately, I don’t have any aversions.”
Earlier, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, when she was probed to tell about her family planning with her husband, Sandeep Sejwal, the actress had mentioned that she felt she was too young to have a baby then. Pooja had revealed:
“We haven’t decided anything as of now. We are in a very good space and want to learn more about each other every day. A new addition to the family is a good thing but we don’t see having a child immediately. I feel I’m too young to have kids right now. This is the age for us to explore and I want to utilise every ounce of my energy in working and experimenting.”
Congratulations, Pooja Banerjee and Sandeep Sejwal!
