Saif Ali Khan was recently released from Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, only five days after he underwent emergency surgery. However, the actor received online backlash after a video showed him walking home just five days post-surgery following the violent stabbing incident at his Mumbai residence. The video, which featured Saif in a white shirt, jeans, and visible bandages, led to widespread speculation, with some netizens questioning the severity of his injuries and labelling the incident a PR stunt. Netizens expressed disbelief over how someone with such severe injuries could recover so quickly.
Amid the criticism, actress Pooja Bhatt came forward to defend Saif, praising his resilience. Speaking to ETimes, Pooja lauded the actor for his strength and determination despite such severe injury. Pooja was quoted as saying:
"The graphic details of the stabbing that emerged in the media painted an image in people's heads about Saif's physical state. That image was perhaps not in sync with the visuals of seeing him walk out of hospital on his own two feet."
While many social media users criticised Saif for standing straight and walking to his Bandra residence, clinical experts explained how patients can leave the hospital quickly after major surgeries through determination, adequate care and rest. Pooja further talked about how the same people were praising Saif for his bravery and determination in walking inside the hospital despite the severity of his injury and bleeding profusely on the night of the attack. The actress addressed the trolls and conspiracy theorists, saying:
"But don't these very people forget that they lauded him for walking himself into the hospital as well? A man who checks himself into hospital in a wounded, traumatised condition surely has the grit to walk out of hospital on his own. We should be applauding this instead of resorting to being conspiracy theorists.”
Saif Ali Khan received crucial assistance during the night of the attack when an auto driver, Bhajan Singh Rana, swiftly transported him to the hospital. Before returning home, Saif met the 47-year-old auto driver at the hospital, clicked a picture with him, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for his timely help. As a gesture of appreciation for Bhajan Singh Rana's selfless act, Saif reportedly gifted him Rs. 50,000, according to a report by ETimes.
