With her work in films like Nasha, Malini and Co., Love Is Poison, Adalat, Aa gaya Hero, The Journey of Karma, and many more, Poonam was flying high on the professional front. Not just in the film industry, Poonam Pandey won audiences hearts with her appearances in Akshay Kumar's Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 and Kangana Ranaut's Lock Upp.
The stunning actress, Poonam Pandey also grabbed a lot of praise when she posted a series of pictures celebrating Ayodhya Ram Mandir's inauguration. However, on February 2, 2024, Poonam Pandey's manager, Parul Chawla shockingly dropped a post on her Instagram handle in which she stated that the 32-year-old model had passed away.

In a conversation with India Today, Parul Chawla revealed that Poonam Pandey was diagnosed with last-stage cervical cancer sometime back. The model was in her hometown in Uttar Pradesh and passed away in the presence of her loved ones as per Parul.
The news of Poonam Pandey's sudden demise shocked the entire entertainment industry, as she never publicly shared anything about her ailments. Everyone was numbed knowing that the actress passed away at the mere age of 32 at a time in her career when she was reportedly getting a lot of projects. Everyone was so emotional and heartbroken to know about this unfortunate end to Poonam's life, who was finally enjoying the life she always dreamt of.

However, on February 3, 2024, a video was uploaded on Poonam Pandey's official Instagram handle in which she can be seen sitting and revealing how she faked her death in order to create awareness about cervical cancer in India. The model admitted that it was a harsh step but the need of the hour. Soon, another video was uploaded on her IG handle, and this time, it was a collaborative post with the famous brand, Hauterrfly. In the video, Poonam once again apologised for faking her death but stated that her sole purpose was to bring more attention to the alarming numbers of deaths due to cervical cancer in India.

Poonam Pandey was born on March 11, 1991, in Kanpur and made a name for herself in the Indian film and television industry in a short span of time. Although she was born into a middle-class family, Poonam had her eyes stuck on the glam and glitz of the showbiz world right from an early age. Just like most of the youngsters, she desired fame and recognition, but by the mere age of 20, she had tasted a bite of it, courtesy of her work in the modelling industry and bold statements.
Poonam Pandey never shared personal details about her life in the public domain. However, once, in a conversation with the Hindustan Times, she revealed that she was in college when she got the chance to participate in a modelling contest that started her professional journey. As per Poonam, she never got the time to attend college once she stepped into the modelling industry.
For the unversed, Poonam participated in the Gladrags Manhunt and Megamodel Contest back in 2010. The gorgeous diva finished the competition as one of the top nine contestants and got the chance to appear on the same magazine's cover page. It was a big milestone in Poonam Pandey's professional career as she got to work with Kingfisher India.
For the unversed, it was 2011, and the Indian cricket team was playing in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, which was held in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. During the tournament, Poonam promised to strip down naked if team India lifted the trophy. As soon as she made her claim on social media, it erupted in the national media, and she instantly became a hot topic across the country.
In the final of the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, team India lifted the World Cup trophy after beating Sri Lanka and all eyes were on Poonam Pandey. However, BCCI refused to permit Poonam to fulfil her promise to strip.
Despite not getting the chance to strip, Poonam Pandey decided to take on Twitter and showcase her beauty in her bold pictures and erotic videos. Soon, she created a stir on the internet with her boldness, and her pictures and videos started grabbing the attention of netizens.
However, in 2012, when Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL Season 5, she bared all. It was a historic moment as people started jokingly calling India's 2011 World Cup win and KKR's first IPL title a result of the 'Poonam Pandey effect'.

In July 2020, Poonam Pandey got engaged to her long-term boyfriend, Sam Bombay, in an intimate engagement ceremony. The actress confirmed the same through a post on her Instagram handle. After a few months of their engagement, the couple got married in September 2020.
Just when everything looked happy and sound in Poonam's personal life, she filed a complaint against Sam for molesting her when they were on their honeymoon in Goa. During that time, in one of the interviews, Poonam accused Sam of domestic violence and even suffering a brain haemorrhage through her husband's hands. The couple reportedly divorced after the controversial incident and moved on in their respective lives.

There's no denying the fact that Poonam Pandey lived a life full of controversies. While her bold photoshoots used to create controversy on the internet every now and then, it was her ugly spat with Raj Kundra that grabbed many eyeballs.
For the uninitiated, Poonam filed a criminal case against Raj for using her content and minting money without any agreement with her. Not only this, during the COVID-19 lockdown, she was even arrested by Mumbai police for violating the lockdown rules.
A personal video of Poonam Pandey and Sam Bombay also made its way into a series on adult sites, after which a large section of society protested against the entertainment industry for letting her work there.
Despite all these controversies, just when Poonam Pandey was getting some love from the public, she faked her own death, leaving them absolutely furious. It will be interesting to see whether this PR stunt would hamper her career in the entertainment industry or not.
