Florida-based rapper POORSTACY passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, after a ‘medical emergency’ at a hotel where he had checked in ten days ago. The 26-year-old rapper had been staying at the Boca Raton hotel with a woman and a toddler. Amid growing investigation regarding the cause of death, police confirmed an ‘incident’ at the location, without divulging further details. What happened at the hotel?

According to TMZ, POORSTACY had been staying at the hotel for about 10 days and had arrived with an unidentified woman and a toddler, according to a hotel employee. The rapper was rushed to a nearby hospital after an unspecified ‘medical emergency’ with no other reports of injury. 

On the morning of November 29, 2025, first responders received a call regarding a medical issue involving POORSTACY and immediately took him to a nearby hospital on a stretcher. However, he couldn’t make it and was pronounced dead soon after. Days later, the exact cause of the rapper’s death or the nature of the medical emergency remains unclear, and the lack of information has raised concerns about whether he died from natural causes. 

Amid the ongoing investigation, the police have offered no further insight into POORSTACY’s unexpected demise. Although no official cause of death has been confirmed, the secrecy of the case has many fans convinced that the Florida rapper may have died by suicide. 

Who was POORSTACY?

POORSTACY had a promising career ahead of him before his life was cut short at 26. Born Carlito Milfort Jr. on March 15, 1999, the rapper quickly gained attention as a rising voice in alternative rap. His sound was a unique blend of emo rap, punk, metal, and post-hardcore, setting him apart. His breakout rap was the 2019 EP I Don’t Care, which gained traction and led to two full-length albums with 10K Projects.

The rapper’s flair of spontaneity led him to collaborate with Blink-182 rapper Travis Barker in the 2019 song Choose Life. He worked with Internet Money Records, teaming up with Bring Me the Horizon’s Oli Sykes on the track Knife Party. In 2020, he appeared on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for Bill & Ted Face the Music, further expanding his reach beyond the underground. 

Alongside Travis Barker, POORSTACY also collaborated with Iann Dior and contributed to the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for Dean Parisot’s 2020 film Bill & Ted Face the Music. He also worked with Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes, and the two were reportedly close friends. His most recent release, Nothing Belongs to You, came out in July 2025.

POORSTACY was once charged with battery and child neglect

POORSTACY’s life hasn’t been free of controversies. In 2023, when he was only 24, the rapper was charged after a standoff with authorities. According to Coral Springs Talk and court documents, the rapper was charged with battery and child neglect after he reportedly threw a hamster cage at a woman despite the presence of a month-old child. He was later released on a USD 6,000 bond. With his death report, the curiosity has risen about whether POORSTACY’s hotel companion was the same woman and child from two years back.
