The renowned filmmaker, writer and editor, Pradeep Sarkar is no longer with us. The shocking news of his demise has left the entire film industry at a standstill. Weeks after the iconic actor and director, Satish Kaushik’s demise on March 9, 2023, Pradeep Sarkar’s death has left Bollywood celebrities numbed. As soon as the news broke on the internet and news channels, celebrities started pouring their deepest condolences on social media to the director’s family and loved ones. The iconic filmmaker was renowned for his films, Parineeta, Mardaani, Laga Chunari Mein Daag, Helicopter Eela, and the list goes on.

Parineeta director, Pradeep Sarkar passed away at 67

On March 24, 2024, Pradeep Sarkar passed away at the age of 67 around 3:30 am. The news was broken on the internet by the critically-acclaimed director, Hansal Mehta, with a heartbreaking tweet on Twitter. As of now, the cause of his death is unknown, and it is hard to say whether he was suffering from some disease or health-related issues in general. However, as per some reports, it is suggested that the filmmaker was on dialysis, and a sudden drop in his potassium levels was probably the reason that led to his sudden demise.

After the sudden drop in his potassium levels, Pradeep Sarkar was immediately taken to the hospital. However, despite the doctor's best efforts, they couldn’t save the iconic filmmaker. It was Hansal Mehta’s four-letter tweet that broke the news of Pradeep Sarkar’s demise on social media. The director posted a smiling picture of Pradeep and wrote, “Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP.” Soon a series of celebrities dropped their tweets as they bid farewell to one of the biggest filmmakers and writers to ever live in this country.

Bollywood actor, Ajay Devgn took to his Twitter handle and posted his heartfelt condolences to Pradeep Sarkar’s family. The actor has been a part of the industry for so many decades, which is why he knows the kind of contribution Pradeep Sarkar has made in the film industry with his commendable work. In his tweet, Ajay admitted that it is hard for him to digest the painful news of Pradeep’s demise. His tweet can be read as:

"The news of Pradeep Sarkar’s demise, ‘Dada’ to some of us is still hard to digest. My deepest condolences. My prayers are with the departed and his family. RIP Dada."
