Prajakta Koli's Journey: Dreamt Of Becoming An RJ, Failed YouTube Career, Spoke At The UN And More

Prajakta Koli has been dominating the headlines as the loved content creator is all set to tie the knot with her fiance, Vrishank Khanal. Prajakta Koli dreamed of becoming a Radio Jockey

Prajakta Koli was born on June 27, 1993, in Thane, Mumbai. The actress was raised there by her parents, Manoj Koli, a real-estate businessman-turned-restaurateur, and Archana Koli, a language teacher. Prajakta earned her high school certification from Vasant Vihar High School in Thane, Mumbai. She further pursued a Bachelor of Mass Media degree at the prestigious V. G. Vaze College of Arts, Science, and Commerce.

Despite being an average student academically, she actively participated in various cultural events throughout her academic journey. However, her journey was not as easy, the content creator saw her father work double shifts at the tender age of five. Nonetheless, that didn't stop her young mind from dreaming.

Prajakta had a deep-rooted passion for radio from an early age and would spend hours listening to radio jockeys (RJs), and by the time she was in grade six, she had made up her mind to pursue a career as a radio jockey. She started her journey in the field as an intern at Mumbai's Fever 104 FM. A year later, she got to host her own show, Call Centre. Unfortunately, the show didn’t meet expectations, and Prajakta had to make the difficult decision to resign. 

Prajakta Koli started her YouTube channel as a backup plan

Influencer and content creator, Prajakta Koli has won the hearts of millions with her clever wit and relatable humour. Her rise to fame came through her YouTube channel, MostlySane. However, did you know that the content creator-turned-actress started her YouTube channel as a backup plan? Yes! You heard that right: what started as a backup gained Prajakta 30k subscribers in just 2 months.

However, being a YouTuber was not a conventional career option back in 2015. Prajakta was left extremely unmotivated and even considered giving up on her channel as there was a time when she was crawling for subscribers. Nonetheless, her viral observational comedy videos helped her garner immense popularity. Her 'Types of People on WhatsApp Groups' videos, combined with her undeniable talent and charisma, helped her establish herself as one of the most beloved creators in India.

Prajakta Koli's monumental sucess

Prajakta's resilience and dedication helped her become one of India's most celebrated YouTubers. The success opened a spectrum of opportunities for the actress, she was presented with brand deals from some of the biggest names in the market. She got a chance to interview some of the most well-known personalities across the globe, including Michelle Obama, Bill Gates, Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, as well as top Bollywood celebrities. According to Lifestyle Asia, Prajakta enjoys a net worth of Rs. 16 crores as of 2024.

However, that was not all; in 2018, Prajakta got a chance to speak at the United Nations on the occasion of International Day of Tolerance as an ambassador for YouTube's global initiative, the Creators for Change program. In September 2019, she travelled to the UN as a delegate to participate in the International Day of Tolerance and in the Goalkeepers program. She was even appointed as a member of the Goalkeepers Advisory Group 2022-2024. Prajakta also made her acting debut with a short film, Khayali Pulao, in 2020. She was also seen in the Netflix series, Mismatched.
