Wedding bells are ringing out loud for yesteryear actor, Raj Babbar and veteran actress, Smita Patil’s son, Prateik Babbar. Many hearts got shattered sometime back when the news of his engagement and wedding started pouring in. And now it seems that Prateik has sealed the deal of deciding on forever. Prateik, who has been in a relationship with a budding writer Sanya Sagar since 2017, is now all set to the tie the knot. So much so that the pre-wedding celebrations have already begun.
For the ones who don’t know, Prateik has known Sanya for eight long years and it was only in 2017 that the two entered the romantic sphere with each other. On January 22, 2018, the lovebirds got engaged and it was a completely a close-knit affair with only a few pals and relatives in the attendance. Prateik and Sanya are all set to walk down the aisle today, on December 23, 2019. A source close to the couple had then remarked, “The engagement will be a close-knit affair. Their families are tight-lipped about it, as Prateik wants to go a little easy and stay away from the limelight unless it’s work-related. Posting about his engagement on his official Instagram handle, Prateik captioned the above snap as, “#monday.. holy snappp! that just happened!". To which Sanya (who is by the name of 'pynkmoss' on Instagram) replied, “Yus baby” with a heart emoticon.
Exactly after a year, on January 22, 2019 (yesterday), Prateik and Sanya had their fun-filled haldi ceremony. On their haldi and mehendi ceremony, the couple looked lovely in their look. Prateik was looking dapper for his mehendi ceremony in an off-white kurta, white pyjama teamed with up with a green dupatta and a kohlapuri chappal. On the other hand, Sanya chose to keep it very simple and unique in a yellow maxi dress and kept her hair open. What caught our attention was her unconventional mehendi and that floral tiara. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Prateik got candid about his engagement and was quoted as saying, “Sanya and I, along with our families, decided that something as pure as love should be solemnised on an auspicious day and what better day than Basant Panchami. She’s the best partner I could have asked for. It didn’t take me long to figure out that she was the one for me. Revealing the type of wedding he was then looking out for, Prateik said, “But we want to enjoy this courtship period for a year or two; Sanya will shuttle between Mumbai and Lucknow. We haven’t thought about the wedding yet, but if I had my way, I would love a beach wedding or a simple temple wedding.”
Further, he added, “I’ve been mentally ready for marriage for a while now as I believe it gives a relationship substance. Nothing will change, life will only get even more beautiful.” On collaborating with his would-be-wife someday, Prateik said, “It is on our minds. It will be great to be a creatively in sync couple.” Prateik’s mother and our very talented actress, Smita Patil is no more in this world and this void for him can never be filled.
