Prateik Smita Patil Recalls Early Morning Proposal To Wife, Priya Banerjee, Ahead Of 1st Anniversary

While Valentine’s week has already started on February 7, 2026, the season of love is a bit extra special for Prateik and Priya. On February 14, 2026, the couple will complete one year of togetherness. Ahead of their 1st marriage anniversary, the actor recalled his early morning proposal to Priya.

Prateik Smita Patil recalls his plan to propose to Priya Banerjee on his birthday eve

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Prateik Smita Patil recalled his plan to propose to his ladylove, Priya Banerjee, on his birthday eve. However, he cancelled the plan because they were busy the next day and had to leave for work early in the morning. Later, he shifted his proposal plan on a fine Sunday morning when he and Priya were relaxing in their home. Recalling the moment, Prateik said:

"I had planned to propose Priya at the stroke of midnight on the eve of my birthday. But we had some work the next day for which we had to leave early morning, so if I had done that, we wouldn’t have got time to enjoy the moment. Then two days before, on a Sunday morning, I was sitting on my ‘throne’ in the bathroom where I get some of my best ideas. I realised that we had the whole day to ourselves and it was the perfect day to propose."

Priya Banerjee shares details about their dreamy proposal

In the same interview, Priya Banerjee shared the details about their dreamy proposal that was all things wholesome. Recalling the moment, Priya said that it was 8 am in the morning when she found Prateik crying in a corner of their house, while she and their furry friend were lying on the bed. The Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na actor suddenly came next to the bed and proposed to Priya. He went down on his one knee and made one step forward in their relationship. Priya added that Prateik was quite emotional at the time. She was quoted as saying:

"It was 8 am and I saw Prateik crying in the corner, and I was like what has happened. I was lying in bed with our dog and Prateik suddenly came next to the bed and proposed to me. He was so emotional that I didn’t even understand the first question he asked me. He went down on his one knee while in his boxers, but it was the perfect moment as we also had our dog there who just started wagging his tail. It was a celebration with the three of us. I am glad he did it the day I expected it to happen the least."

Prateik and Priya reportedly met through a mutual friend in the TV industry. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Prateik revealed that it was after their first kiss that he felt that she was the one. He shared that neither he nor Priya was actively seeking love when they met. Prateik mentioned that their connection first began on Instagram. The couple tied the knot on February 14, 2025. The wedding ceremony was held at Prateik’s mom, Smita Patil's, home, Rock Cliff, in Mumbai. The actor shared in their wedding video why he made the decision to get married at his late mom’s house. He said:

"We had a dream about my mum. I think my mum told her that we need to get married in that house, in the house we live in. That house is blessed by my mother and my grandparents."
