Pratibha Ranta of 'Laapataa Ladies' revealed how her parents were sceptical of sending her to Bombay as she was a girl.

'Laapataa Ladies' Pratibha Reveals Family Stopped Her From Coming To Bombay: 'Tu Ek Ladki Hai..'

Indian actress, Pratibha Ranta is basking in the glory of her two superhit projects, Laapataa Ladies and Heeramandi. While her first film left everyone in awe of her acting prowess, Pratibha, during an interview, recalled that her parents were scared of sending her to a filmy world and being on her. Pratibha hails from Himachal Pradesh and moved to Mumbai to pursue her dream of acting. In an interview, she talked about her family's concerns.

Pratibha recalled her family's reaction to her decision to move to Bombay and work in films

Pratibha Ranta hails from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, and her from a small-town to a promising Bollywood star has been inspiring for many. Her recent role in Kira Rao's Laapataa Ladies, proved that Pratibha has a lot of calibre in her craft. In an interview with Film Companion, Pratibha revealed that her parents were sceptical of sending her to Bombay. It all happened when she was describing her character and how girls have to think millions of times before going out.

Pratibha added that her own family were worried about how she would be managing in the unknown city, Mumbai, on her own. She added that it was a genuine concern as she is a girl. Talking about the same, Pratibha added:

"Aaj ke time par ek ladki akele jaane se pehle 100 baar sochti hai, use akele jana bhi hota toh uski family usko 100 baar mana karti hai. Like this happened to me, I come from Shimla. My family was like tu akele ladki hai, how will you do things on your own. And it is a very general concern for everyone."

Pratibha studied in the Jesus and Mary School in Shima and later shifted to Mumbai. The gorgouess graduated in filmmaking from Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management. She started her journey into acting as a theatre artist and professional dancer. Soon, the road for modelling and acting opened for her. Not many know Pratibha had also won the title of Miss Mumbai in 2018. Soon, she was seen as a lead in the show, Qurbaan Hua.

In her first film, directed by Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies, Pratibha played the role of Jaya. Her simple yet strong performance created magic in the hearts of the audience. Soon, she was praised for her acting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web show, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. She also has a younger sister, Abha Ranta, who was also seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's OTT debut.
